As I reflect upon Nick Knowles’ journey on Strictly Come Dancing, it’s impossible not to be moved by his resilience and determination. From a simple car tyre change leading to an injury in Week 1, to a knee injury during training that kept him out of Week 3, Nick’s perseverance is truly inspiring.
This past Sunday, the fourth week of Strictly Come Dancing for the current year concluded, resulting in one celebrity bidding farewell during the results show on that day, October 13th.
Well, here I was, watching the grand finale of the dance competition with bated breath. As the tension mounted, it became clear that Nick Knowles and his partner Luba Mushtuk would be squaring off against Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu in a dance-off for the title. In the end, after an intense and closely contested battle, it was Nick and Luba who graciously accepted their exit from the ballroom, leaving Shayne and Nancy to claim victory.
On Saturday’s leaderboard, Nick and Luba ended up in the twelfth position from the top, whereas Shayne and Nancy ranked seventh.
In my latest review, I found myself captivated once more as the dancing duos took center stage. Shayne and Nancy danced a sensual Cha Cha to Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use) by Sub Sub feat Melanie Williams, while Nick and Luba brought charm and energy with their Charleston set to Rain on the Roof from Paddington 2. Each performance was a delight to watch!
Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke opted to keep Shayne and Nancy in the competition, as Shirley Ballas expressed that she too would have made the same decision if given the chance.
Nick expressed that he was astonished by the extent of his affection for the show, as well as by two aspects. Firstly, the deep care he feels every week, and secondly, the strong desire not to disappoint his fellow team member.
“The only reason I could do this is simply because of Luba’s changes, she’s been amazing.”
Luba mentioned, “I’ve never encountered anyone as persistent as you are, and I recall you stating that if you give it your all, you’d be extremely content. It appears to me that you surpassed your best efforts. Thank you.
Nick then said of his partner: “Luba’s been amazing and just been so fabulous every day.
Besides expressing gratitude to the main team, I’d like to extend my appreciation to the behind-the-scenes staff, the physiotherapists, everyone who has played a significant role in helping me this week. Additionally, I want to thank my fellow competitors for being remarkable and wonderful individuals.
“There are some amazing dancers up there, and I will love watching the rest of the series.”
Nick and Luba encountered some rough patches during their four-week stint in the contest. In the span between the first and second weeks, Nick sustained an injury on his arm and shoulder while switching a car tire, yet was permitted to continue dancing after receiving medical clearance.
During the timeframe spanning Week 2 and Week 3, Nick sustained an injury to his knee during practice. As a result, he couldn’t dance in Week 3. However, by Week 4, he received clearance to perform again.
Strictly Come Dancing continues every Saturday evening.
