Who won The Great British Sewing Bee? Season 10 winner revealed

As a movie reviewer with a deep appreciation for the art of sewing and a soft spot for heartwarming stories, I was completely captivated by The Great British Sewing Bee 2024. Having spent countless hours behind my own sewing machine throughout my life, I could relate to each contestant’s journey and their passion for this timeless skill.

After ten difficult weeks filled with numerous sewing trials, tonight was the night when the last three contestants faced off against each other in a succession of tasks and competitions to determine the winner.

In the competition throughout the year, twelve gifted amateurs showcased their sewing skills to win the title of Britain’s Top Amateur Sewer in 2024. However, only one individual was able to receive this distinguished recognition.

In tonight’s episode, the contestants were required to create opera gloves as their challenge – a task demanding dexterity and care in dealing with intricate textiles.

During the transformation contest, finalists aimed to convert party decorations into stylish party wear for the subsequent Made to Measure task. In this phase, they were required to design an entire outfit by skillfully draping fabric on their models.

In the end, after facing numerous obstacles, Luke emerged victorious and claimed the title of Britain’s Best Amateur Sewer of 2024.

After securing his victory, Luke expressed: “To be honest, I can’t believe it! I never imagined making it to the finals, let alone winning. This is absolutely surreal. I had just hoped for a congratulatory hug from Patrick, but now holding this extraordinary trophy, I know this moment will forever stay with me. I rarely feel proud of myself, but I am incredibly proud right now.”

During the contest, the sewers honored Sewing Bee’s 10-year anniversary by participating in a special event called “Back to Basics.” In this event, they recreated the same projects from the initial competition episode.

Additional themes for the challenges encompassed Sports, Holiday, Reduce Reuse Recycle, and an extravagant week called Diva Week. During Diva Week, they drew inspiration from a Tina Turner-esque fringed dress and transformed animal print clothing into cozy loungewear for a Divas, culminating in a grand stage outfit for a Divas.

“He shared that before the performance, there were clothes he never considered wearing. Now, however, he’s eager to try everything on.”

With the encouragement of my fellow sewers and judges, as well as Kiell’s presence, I felt invigorated and enjoyed myself immensely during the competition.

Luke expressed his eagerness to explore fresh opportunities in the realm of sewing: “I’m unsure of what lies ahead for me in this craft, but I’m determined to keep experimenting with new projects and techniques. My passion extends to delving deeper into costume design and challenging the boundaries of drag clothing creation. Additionally, I am deeply committed to discovering methods that make sewing more inclusive and accessible.”

In my opinion, there’s still a lot of work to be done in making people understand the benefits of sewing your own clothes. It’s an ability that lets you showcase your uniqueness and boost your self-confidence through what you wear. Learning this skill brings great rewards, and I’ve been fortunate enough to apply it in my life. I’d be thrilled to support others in their journey of mastering this art as well.

For my part, I’m coordinating with Jesus for a wedding in Gran Canaria in 2025. It will be an intimate affair with family and friends, held in a picturesque location. Therefore, the next items on our to-do list are selecting our wedding attire. I’ve even begun sketching out the designs already.

The Great British Sewing Bee season 10 is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now.
