Why Billie Eilish Skipped the 2024 MTV VMAs

As I peruse through this vibrant array of celebrities gracing the red carpet at the VMAs, it’s clear that fashion is as much a form of self-expression as it is a statement of one’s status.

Don’t call Billie Eilish the bad guy for skipping the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

At the September 11 event, the artist was one of the most frequently nominated. This spectacular occasion showcased energizing performances by artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Chappell Roan, Eminem, and Megan Thee Stallion (who hosted). However, surprisingly, she chose not to attend the celebrations.

I’ve been quite engrossed lately, as my global tour kicks off in just fortnight. Every moment has been dedicated to meticulous preparation for this exciting journey.

Although Billie Eilish was unable to attend the VMAs, there was an abundance of celebrity influence at New York’s UBS Arena. Taylor Swift reigned supreme with seven victories, among them the Video of the Year accolade. Katy Perry also delivered a memorable career-spanning performance, and later, Orlando Bloom presented her with the Video Vanguard award, recognizing their long-standing relationship.

Billie is all set to embark on a tour supporting her third studio album titled “Hit Me Hard and Soft”. The tour of the same name begins on September 29 in Quebec City, Canada, followed by a journey across North America that lasts till December 17. After this, she’ll travel to Australia for performances in February and March. Following that, Sweden will host the tour in April, and Billie will continue playing shows throughout Europe until July.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: This year at just 22, I’ve been honored with not one but three prestigious nominations! Two of them are in the coveted Song of the Summer category – one for my solo hit “Birds of a Feather” and another for my collaboration with Charli XCX, “Guess.” Additionally, I was nominated for the prestigious Video of the Year award for “Lunch.” Although I wasn’t able to attend the event, I still managed to take home an incredible win – the Video for Good award for my single “What Was I Made For?” from the 2023 Barbie soundtrack. To top it all off, this powerful track also won the 2024 Academy Award for Best Original Song! What a remarkable journey it’s been!
