As an expat, Gabriel Macht likes to wake up with his family and smell the coffee.
Approximately a month following their departure from the United States, where he was born, and relocating with his spouse Jacinda Barrett, the former Suits actor recently provided insights into their foreign lifestyle.
In an exclusive interview with Francesca Amiker of TopMob News, Macht shared his daily routine: “I start my day by waking up, having breakfast with my children, and then taking them to school. I cherish my coffee machine and spend time with my dogs. I walk them regularly. My life is about rebuilding, renovating, and always searching for fun activities to engage in with the kids, such as playing music together, creating short films, cooking, and more.
Moving forward, it’s worth noting that the individual, who is 53 years old, still frequently journeys between the U.S. for diverse assignments. Apart from his involvement with Bear Fight Whiskey, this also involves his reprisal of Harvey Specter in an upcoming episode of the Suits LA spinoff series.
However, while abroad with his family, his primary concern is fulfilling the role of father to his children, Satine (age 14) and Luca (age 11).
During his time on the show “Suits,” Macht spent a considerable amount of time away from his daughter while working long hours, totaling up to 14 or 16 hours per day. Recognizing this, he decided not to repeat the same pattern during his son’s childhood. Yesterday, his son turned 11, and they are now reaping the benefits of that choice.
Macht chose not to disclose the nation where he and his family relocated, yet he did shed light on the factors that motivated their international move.
The alum from Because I Said So expressed this: “I’m curious about how the world appears through diverse viewpoints.” Married to an Australian native, Jacinda, in 2004, they noted their desire to explore various perspectives, learn from others, and appreciate history, culture, and character in different corners of the globe. They added, “Why not? If given the chance, it’s a wonderful method for nurturing children.
Macht mentioned that he too appreciates the “more relaxed rhythm” and “less conspicuousness” that accompanies life abroad, since fewer people there recognize him.
“I love being able to take nice walks,” he added, later joking, “It helps to wear a hat.”

Macht, without disclosing the destination, likewise offered some insights into his choice for relocating overseas.
The alum from Because I Said So explained that he wishes to experience diverse viewpoints by observing the world through various people’s eyes. “I want to learn and grow by gaining different perspectives,” he said. “I want to explore unique histories, cultures, and characters in different parts of the globe. It seems like a wonderful opportunity to raise children in such an enriching environment.” He tied the knot with native Australian Jacinda in 2004.
Macht expressed his fondness for the leisurely rhythm and privacy afforded by life abroad, as fewer individuals there are likely to recognize him.
“I love being able to take nice walks,” he added, later joking, “It helps to wear a hat.”

The talk show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, known as “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” came to an end in 2022 following a 19-season broadcast. This decision was made amid accusations of a harmful work environment that led to an internal investigation, dismissals of several executives, and widespread public criticism.
In a comeback, the actress who played Dory in “Finding Dory” returned to the limelight for her final stand-up performance titled “For Your Approval“, which debuted on Netflix in September 2024. Prior to this special, she announced that she would be bidding farewell to Hollywood entirely.
In her “Ellen’s Final Stand…Up” tour, she informed the audience, as reported by SFGate, that this would be her last performance. After releasing her Netflix special, she plans to retire.
As a committed admirer, I too have followed the news of Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi. It seems that they’ve chosen to relocate to England following the reported victory of Donald Trump in the 2024 elections, as shared by various media sources.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement over Eliza’s transformative journey! From her captivating roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Bring It On in the early 2000s, to her revelation in September 2024 that she had earned certification in psychedelic-assisted therapy, I’ve been left utterly spellbound. And
She shared with Boston Magazine that she had the opportunity to change her life’s path towards self-healing, which in turn would enable her to help others heal. She felt it was important now to reveal the incredible transformation, tranquility, and enthusiasm I’ve experienced. This is undeniably my true vocation, my real mission,” she said.
Actress who stars in “Ant-Man and the Wasp” has decided to temporarily step away from her acting career, marking a break after two decades in Hollywood.
On Instagram in June 2024, Evangeline expressed her happiness and contentment, stating, “I’m brimming with joy today as I walk my path.” She continued, expressing her gratitude for her blessings. Despite apprehensions that come with choosing a less conventional route (wealth and fame), she finds peace in following her life’s purpose, which brings satisfaction instead of fear.
However, it’s not entirely ruled out that she won’t close the door, since she also mentioned, “There’s a possibility I could go back to Hollywood someday, but for the moment, this is where I feel at home.
Since appearing in Netflix’s 2019 series V-Wars, the actor from The Vampire Diaries hasn’t taken on a new role. Instead, this father of two (alongside wife Nikki Reed) has delved into a personal endeavor, focusing his efforts on addressing climate change through enhancing the health and quality of our planet’s soil.
In an interview with TopMob News in November 2023, Somerhalder explained that he took a break from acting around four years ago to focus on raising his children, growing his businesses, and bringing forth the documentaries Kiss the Ground (released in 2020) and its sequel Common Ground. These films highlight the importance of regenerative farming.
Speaking about the future, he stated, “I envision myself as a rancher and creator of enduring brand names, be it my bourbon or wellness company. My commitment to regenerative agriculture and healthy soil management will also be part of this journey, something our family has always practiced. This is the path I see for my life. So whenever someone asks me ‘Why do you take such interest?’ – that’s why. It reflects who I am and what I aspire to become.
In February 2021, during an episode of her podcast “Empty Inside”, the former iCarly star revealed to guest Anna Faris that she chose to step away from acting a couple of years ago. Now, she’s dedicating her time to ventures in writing, directing, and hosting the podcast, among other things.
Jennette candidly shared that her history with acting leaves her with a deep sense of regret for the roles she took on earlier in her career. She expressed resentment towards her profession, feeling unsatisfied by the characters she portrayed and viewing them as overly cheesy and awkward. From age 13 to 21, she starred in various shows, but even by 15 years old, she was already ashamed of her association with a Nickelodeon program. To her peers at that age, it wasn’t something cool to be proud of; rather, it felt embarrassing.
She hasn’t ruled out a return to acting entirely, but through writing her book, she has come to believe that there might be an opportunity to revisit acting in a way that doesn’t burden her with the weight of past experiences. In fact, if she were to write something tailored for herself, it could potentially open up the possibility for her to try acting again. She shared this insight with TopMob News in October 2022.
This seemed almost inevitable. If we had the chance to wed Prince Harry, commit ourselves to charitable endeavors that resonate deeply with us, and acquire entry to the Queen’s magnificent array of tiaras, saying goodbye to Hollywood might not be such a hard decision.
After following in the footsteps of Grace Kelly who transitioned from Hollywood to the Palace of Monaco, Meghan Markle gave up her home in Toronto and her popular role on Suits, for a life within The Firm. However, since they have relinquished their senior roles, she’s gradually re-entering the business through strategic moves such as the multi-year production deal with Netflix.
Since her initial appearance in “The Mask” back in 1994, the actress had been involved in more than 40 films. By the time filming ended for “Annie” in 2014, it was clear that she had worked tirelessly in the industry and deserved a well-earned break.
She shared with her friend Gwyneth Paltrow the reason behind her major self-care choice: “I found myself yearning for different experiences in life,” she said. “For so long, I’ve been pushing myself relentlessly, working on projects and films. It can be exhausting. When you’re filming a movie, it feels like they have complete control over you. You’re committed to them for 12 hours a day, day after day, with barely any time left for anything else.
Beyond what she already delved into, there were many more areas she was eager to investigate, such as writing (having published her 2013 New York Times best-seller The Body Book followed by The Longevity Book in 2016) and starting a family with husband Benji Madden. However, she admitted in 2019 to InStyle that she didn’t miss performing. Yet, it seems there might be an exception for at least one comeback performance.
Jamie Foxx expressed to TopMob News that he pleaded earnestly, almost on bended knee, saying something like, “‘Please, let’s do it one more time,'” in an attempt to get Diaz to join the cast of their upcoming Netflix film, “Back in Action”. He shared his affection for her, mentioning they’ve been eagerly anticipating this moment and that this project will be nothing short of extraordinary.
The actor firmly declared that there would be no additional performances following his five-year stint on Empire. When Extra questioned the Academy Award nominee about his future plans as they approached the musical drama series’ sixth and final season in 2019, he simply stated, “I’ve had enough acting. I’m finished with pretending.
Despite coming back for a few film projects, he declared his intention to retire from acting during the promotion of his Peacock series “The Best Man: The Final Chapters” in 2022. He expressed this sentiment to ET, saying, “I’ve exhausted all my acting abilities. Now I find joy observing the emergence of fresh talent, and I don’t wish to imitate myself anymore.”
Although those remarks were made, it’s worth noting that Howard has reappeared in several ventures since then. Notably, he featured in the TV series “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” and the Netflix film “Shirley”. There are also numerous projects scheduled for him in the future.
After King Joffrey met an abrupt, purple-tinted demise in 2014, the then-21-year-old actor who played him informed Entertainment Weekly that he was stepping away from acting. “I’ve been acting since I was 8 years old,” explained the star of Game of Thrones, citing his waning enjoyment as the reason for his departure.
Initially a pastime shared with friends and during summer breaks, acting was once filled with enchantment. However, as he matured, the possibility of making a career out of it emerged, transforming it from a casual pursuit into a profession. “I still find joy in it,” he explained, “but when you earn your livelihood from something, the dynamics shift. It’s no longer just a hobby; it becomes work. And while I appreciate it, I don’t see myself dedicating my life to it.
However, following a hiatus of six years, he prepared himself to reclaim his position and returned to acting in 2020 as part of the cast for BBC’s show titled “Out of Her Mind“.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it as: In 1989, when Jennifer Aniston, the dream girl from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, tied the knot with fellow actor Kevin Kline, they made a conscious decision to take turns in their acting careers. This way, we would never be working simultaneously, allowing us to devote our time effectively to our children, Owen and Greta (now known as Frankie Cosmos in her singing career).
In other words, he added that when it’s Phoebe’s turn to work, she often decides to stay with the children instead. Despite making a brief appearance in Jennifer Jason Leigh’s 2001 independent film “The Anniversary Party,” Cates spends most of her time managing her New York City store, Blue Tree.
At the peak of his popularity with movies like “Ghostbusters” and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”, the actor of the ’80s reduced his involvement in filmmaking shortly following his wife’s death from breast cancer in 1991, choosing instead to dedicate himself to raising his children Rachel and Mitchell.
Despite not taking on a live-action role since 1997 and also declining a cameo in Paul Feig’s 2016 Ghostbusters remake, his status as a cherished cultural figure remains unchanged, as demonstrated by the public uproar over news that he was assaulted while walking in New York City in October 1.
It’s great news for fans that he will be back, joining Josh Gad, in the upcoming Disney remake titled “Shrunk”.
After marrying fashion designer Adam Kimmel in 2010, the prominent actress from “Never Been Kissed” seemed to suggest that she might be moving away from acting. In an interview with Vogue, she explained her reason for potentially stepping back: “Ninety percent of acting roles involve explicit sexual content with others, and I don’t wish to engage in that. It’s a peculiar flame to play with, and our relationship is robust enough to endure it, but if you’re going to walk through fire, there must be something extraordinary on the other side.
Her resolve was strengthened when her son Martin joined her older daughter Louisanna in 2014. In 2016, she expressed to Us Weekly at an event that she no longer engages in movie-related activities and considers herself more of an outsider. She went on to say that she assists Kimmel with his business ventures and paints as a hobby when time permits. Her primary focus, she explained, is her children, which is likely the main reason for her decision to stop working in showbiz.
She had watched “Ally McBeal”, followed by “Nip/Tuck”. Later, she moved on to “Arrested Development” and ultimately “Scandal”. It occurred to her then that perhaps it was time for a change. (or: Perhaps she was ready to move on.)
In her appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show in 2018, she expressed that as she was nearing 45, she found herself pondering if there was something new and difficult that she could undertake. She elaborated by saying she had a feeling for what her acting career would look like over the next decade or two, so she decided to step away from it and start a business instead.
She still had one more item to complete on her ongoing project at her consumer-focused art company, General Public.
I reached out to Mitch Hurwitz, the mind behind “Arrested Development”, and expressed that if there’s another season, I won’t participate due to my decision to stop acting. He appeared very understanding and fully grasped the situation. We had an enjoyable chat, and afterwards, he included me in five episodes by writing me into them.
After winning three Academy Awards, one might think there isn’t much left for an actor to achieve. Following his sixth Oscar nomination for his last film, “Phantom Thread” in 2017, the actor made a personal decision and announced that he would no longer be pursuing acting roles. He expressed deep gratitude towards all his collaborators and audiences over the years. This decision was private, and further comments on the matter will not be provided by him or his representatives.
However, when he believed he had stepped away, his son drew him back into the fold. In October 2024, production company Focus Features revealed that the Academy Award winner would star in “Anemone“, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who will also serve as director for this project.
In 2018, the actress who starred on “Good Luck Charlie” chose to step away from the limelight and instead focused on her academic journey. She completed a master’s degree at MIT, and later, she earned a PhD from the same prestigious institution. Currently, she is also working towards a law degree at Harvard Law School.
Furthermore, not only did Bridgit accomplish this, but she also established her company, Northwood Space, in early 2023. This innovative venture intends to construct ground satellite stations for transmitting and receiving data from space. As a result, she serves as the CEO of this brand.
