As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I deeply respect and appreciate Garcelle Beauvais‘ decision to prioritize her son Jax’s wellbeing over reality TV fame. In today’s digital age, it can be challenging for parents to strike a balance between their personal lives and the public eye, especially when it comes to their children.
On the forthcoming 14th season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” you can expect Garcelle Beauvais to reveal less about her personal family matters.
Indeed, following her son, who is 16 and goes by the name Jax, experiencing cyberbullying at the hands of internet bullies during the 12th season of the Bravo series a couple of years back, the actress has decided to shield her teenager from public attention temporarily.
Previously, Jax shared with me, “‘Mom, I can no longer continue. It was too negative for me,'” as Garcelle candidly disclosed during a special preview of the August 27 episode of GMA and ABC Audio’s Pop Culture Moms podcast. Notably, Garcelle is also a mother to Jaid (16) and Oliver (33), from a different marriage. She honored his decision by confirming that he will not be featured in this season at all. In fact, she shared this news for the first time with us, making you one of the privileged few who now know it.
During that particular season, Jax, who was just 14 years old at the time, wasn’t only subjected to stress from social media. Additionally, he became a focal point of the storyline following an incident where longtime castmate Erika Jayne, under the influence, hurled vulgarities towards him during a cast party while filming.
In an admission, the star of “Coming to America” shared that one of the most challenging aspects was seeing Jax go through hardships on the show, as they had previously seemed shielded from any negativity. He added, “Previously, I felt like the kids were more in the background and only seen at home. So, I thought we could make this work, but then Jax’s storyline unfolded.”
“It blew my mind, because nobody deserves it,” she added. “Nobody’s kids deserve it.”
That’s when Garcelle reconsidered sharing her family with the world on reality TV.
She remarked about ex-Michael Nilon that “It was massive, and I engaged in a chat with the father of the boys.” Then, she typically gives them the choice each season, and as a result, we proceeded with the following season.
But now, Jax is taking a break from the spotlight.
