As a 90’s kid who grew up with the digital revolution, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia as Instagram brings back the good old days of MySpace with their new music feature. It’s like stepping into a time machine and finding myself back in my dorm room, customizing my profile with HTML codes and blasting tunes for all to hear.
Instagram is taking you back to the early aughts.
On August 22, Meta’s social media platform introduced a fresh feature, enabling users to select music for their Instagram profile’s audio background.
In a recent announcement, Instagram explained that their new feature allows users to incorporate music into their profiles, enabling them to create their unique atmosphere. Additionally, this update encourages users to embrace the nostalgic feeling of early 2000s social media.
Fans swiftly noted the resemblance between Instagram’s music feature and a tool fans used on MySpace, a popular social media platform at its peak.
Essentially, this can be rephrased as: “A user humorously referred to it as ‘MySpace-Instagram,’ while another commented that it’s designed for the millennial generation.”
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can’t help but reminisce about the good old days of MySpace and its iconic Top 8 Friend, none other than the legendary Tom Anderson. His impact on social media was undeniable, and it’s only fair that we remember him for his invaluable contributions. Here’s to hoping that with MySpace making a comeback, Tom receives some well-deserved royalties as a token of our appreciation for the role he played in shaping the digital world as we know it today.
Instagram shared through their Creators account that the chosen song on your profile will remain until you decide to change it. To alter the song, access the “Edit profile” section and select “Add music to your profile.” Keep in mind that, like many platform updates, this new feature is gradually becoming available to all accounts.
Collaborating with Sabrina Carpenter, the team is assisting in the debut of our latest feature. The talented 25-year-old has shared a sneak peek of her upcoming single “Taste” through her account, and this appears to be the sole opportunity for fans to listen to the track at present. As Instagram mentioned, the complete song won’t become available until Sabrina releases her new album Short n’ Sweet, scheduled for August 23.
Apart from this unique way, Ariana Grande is also creating a stir on Instagram: The platform is introducing in-app Easter eggs for her followers. These Easter eggs will transform your Notes app into baby blue and even add a kissy lips emoji whenever someone uses phrases associated with Ariana, such as “please please please,” “I’m working late because,” or “it’s that me espresso.”
Now, enthusiasts can relax and anticipate the opportunity when Instagram allows users to utilize their HTML coding abilities to customize their profile pages.
