Misa Hylton would grant any request made by her son.
When the fashion designer went to the trial of her ex, Sean “Diddy” Combs, on May 12 and 13, who is the father of her 30-year-old son Justin Combs, she found it necessary to use a walker for mobility. Now, Hylton has shared reasons behind her courtroom presence.
She posted on Instagram on May 18th, ‘I’m doing well, I’m on my healing path.’ Although she had decided to heal privately after her injury, when her son said, ‘Mommy, I need you,’ she was there for him, using a walker if needed. As a mother, I am first and foremost, and I am the strength my son needs. That’s simply the truth.
As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share that I too find myself in a similar position to her. When making choices that may puzzle others or invite judgment, I stand by her assertion: “I choose not to cater to the insecurities of others.
The 52-year-old suggested we should return to being genuine individuals who engage in authentic actions once more. They emphasized that life isn’t always about the glitz and glamour, but also includes moments that are raw and real – times when you experience complexity and layering that you might never have imagined.
Besides inspiring people to accept their medical journeys and utilize resources similar to how she uses a walker, Hylton likewise brought up Tupac Shakur and his interactions with the legal system throughout his lifetime.
She wrote, “P.S., I nearly imitated Pac’s confident exit from the courthouse in New York City back in 1994, holding back tears and all,” accompanied by crying emojis, a nod to the rapper’s showy behavior outside the Supreme Court. “If you know, you know.” (IYKYK)
On the initial day of my trial, I found myself in an unusual situation when my three daughters chose to step out of the courtroom during the testimony of Daniel Phillip, a male escort. Mr. Phillip graphically described his sexual experiences involving him, Cassie Ventura, and me.
Philip asserted that during one instance around 2012 or 2013, he received approximately “a few thousand dollars” to engage in sexual activities with Ventura while Combs was present. In his testimony, he explained to the jury, “We eventually had sex and applied baby oil on each other for a couple of minutes.
, noting Combs was “sitting in a corner masturbating.”

On the initial two days of the trial against Combs, Hylton was present. This trial involves accusations of racketeering, forced, fraudulent, or coerced sex trafficking, as well as transporting someone for prostitution purposes. However, he has pleaded not guilty and flatly denied all these allegations.
Apart from Hylton and her son, the trial of Combs has also been graced by his mother, Janice Combs, as well as his sons Quincy (33), Christian (26), and 17-year-old twins D’Lila and Jessie, all of whom he had with his late ex, Kim Porter. Additionally, his 18-year-old daughter Chance, who was born to Sarah Chapman, has also been present at the trial.
On the initial day of the trial, nevertheless, Combs’ three daughters chose to step out of the courtroom during the testimony of male escort Daniel Phillip, as he provided a detailed account of his sexual experiences with Cassie Ventura and Combs.
In 2012 or 2013, Philip asserted that someone had given him several thousand dollars as payment to engage in sexual activities with Ventura, while Combs observed. According to his testimony, they eventually did have sex and applied baby oil on each other for a short while. During this time, Combs was reportedly seated in a corner, apparently masturbating, NBC News reports.

Dawn Richard, who was once part of the group Danity Kane, stated on May 16th that she observed Sean “Diddy” Combs strike his girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, with an egg-filled skillet back in 2009.
In simpler terms, “He stormed downstairs angrily, swearing about where his eggs were and blaming Cassie for always getting things wrong. He also asked where his food was. According to the Washington Post, he then approached the skillet containing the eggs and tried to strike her on the head, causing her to fall to the ground.
Ventura “went into the fetal position,” Richard continued, “literally trying to hide her head.”
During the testimony on May 15, Ventura stated that there were no drugs added to the baby oil that Combs preferred using during his “freak offs” sessions, as there were no substances mixed into it.
2024 saw a legal claim made against Combs in October, accusing him of adding GHB (also known as Rohypnol, a notorious ‘date rape’ drug) into the oil.
During the questioning under defense on May 15th, Ventura stated that Combs could become envious and react in a volatile manner when she consumed drugs with others instead of him.
She mentioned that Combs had previously overdosed on painkillers. When lawyer Anna Estevao inquired if her former partner’s mood changes could be linked to medications, Ventura replied affirmatively, stating that “they were indeed a factor.
Earlier in the day, I asked her about Combs and whether he might be a drug addict. She responded by saying, “Well, I’d classify him as someone who struggled with addiction.
Her response affirmed that Combs indeed grew agitated or temperamental during his withdrawal phase.
“I’m not a doctor,” Ventura said, but “coming off of certain pills he would be pretty irritated.”
During Ventura’s time on the witness stand on May 15, Judge Arun Subramanian paused proceedings as Combs’ defense presented graphic emails and texts during their cross-examination.
When lawyer Estevao showed sexually suggestive texts exchanged by the pair in 2009 to imply their relationship was consensual, the defense objected, and the court agreed with this objection.
After hearing the objection, it was observed that Ventura leaned towards the judge for a quiet conversation. The judge then unexpectedly announced a 10-minute recess.
Before the jury’s arrival, a passionate discussion arose between the prosecution and defense as the lead defense attorney, Marc Agniflio, insisted on presenting additional texts as evidence. However, the judge expressed concern that certain messages did not comply with federal guidelines regarding admissible evidence.
Nevertheless, several pieces of evidence included their discussions, where Combs and Ventura provided explicit accounts of their intimate relationships.
On the 15th of May, Ventura admitted under oath that she couldn’t definitively say exactly how many instances she was involved in with Combs that could be described as “odd occurrences,” but she estimated that it was approximately 300 times.
She claimed that her former partner secretly recorded their intimate acts with the intention of using them for extortion. She stated that he threatened to disseminate these recordings, potentially damaging her professional reputation.
Ventura stated, “He often brought them up when he was distressed. It happened quite frequently. It was a truly humiliating experience, both for me and my family. It was appalling and vile. Such actions are inexcusable and should never be inflicted upon anyone.
Testified on May 14th, Ventura stated that she received a $20 million settlement from her former boyfriend Combs following a lawsuit filed against him in November 2023. The lawsuit claimed that Combs had sexually assaulted and physically abused her throughout their relationship.
Testifying in court, Ventura stated that after having a pleasant dinner with Combs at a restaurant in Malibu back in 2018, and finding him very amiable, he subsequently went to her apartment where he allegedly committed a sexual assault against her. It’s worth noting that during this time, she was already in a relationship with Alex Fine, whom she eventually married in the year 2019.
She testified to the court, “I entered the house, and then he followed and violently assaulted me on the living room carpet. I can only recall sobbing and protesting, but it happened swiftly. His eyes were cold, devoid of recognition, as if an alien had invaded him, stealing my sense of safety.
According to Combs’ legal team, he denies any instances of non-consentual sex, asserting instead that the individuals accusing him of sexual misconduct willingly took part in any sexual activities involved.
Ventura stated that she had consensual sexual encounters with Combs on another occasion following the alleged assault. When questioned about her decision to engage in sex with Combs again, she explained, “You can’t simply switch off emotions like that. I still retained a positive image of him as an individual.
In late 2011, Ventura ended her relationship with Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, due to a threat from Diddy that his car might get destroyed. This is what she stated in her testimony.
In my professional opinion, the situation became increasingly risky and unpredictable, with an unknown outcome should we have persisted in our encounters. Sean expressed his intention to cause harm towards us both.
Departures from Ventura were associated with instances of urinary tract infections, mouth ulcers, and digestive problems, as she stated on May 14.
During her testimony, Ventura explained that we had multiple instances where we were engaging in what I’ll call intense disagreements, and these arguments seemed to follow one after another. At times, I even found myself having these heated discussions while dealing with an infection. I tried to clear it up by rinsing it with water, but unfortunately, the antibiotic CIPRO became ineffective. The situation was quite chaotic.
She continued, “It was really painful for a long time. I can’t believe I actually dealt with that.”
In one of the text conversations presented in court, Ventura informed Combs that she had ulcers on her tongue. His response was, “I apologize.
On his second day as a witness, Ventura narrated the events of the 2016 hotel attack that had been captured on CCTV cameras and broadcasted by CNN in May 2024.
She stated that Combs hurled a vase at her following an attempt to exit the Intercontinental Hotel, prior to a physical altercation occurring between them.
During his testimony on May 14th, Ventura described the vase as approaching him. “It collided with the wall instead of me,” he said. “I wasn’t harmed. He was shouting at me. I believe he hurled it in my direction, but I can’t recall the exact insults. I’m confident he wasn’t using my name.
However, she said that Combs told her “that I wasn’t going to leave him, that I couldn’t.”
Immediately following the hotel incident, Ventura revealed that she needed to appear at the premiere of her movie “The Perfect Match”, sporting injuries including bruises on her face and body together with Combs. To hide her swollen eye and split lip, she also had to apply a thick layer of makeup. Furthermore, she mentioned, “I had multiple bruises on my legs, so I decided to change my outfit.
On May 13, the singer declared that Combs had assaulted her in the corridor of a Los Angeles hotel back in March 2016, due to his anger over her exiting a “tiff” or disagreement they’d had. (Footage of this event from the hotel’s security cameras was made public by CNN in 2024. The defense attempted but failed to prevent this video from being used as evidence.)
In his statement to the court, Ventura said, “I decided to depart, and as I exited, Sean accompanied me down the corridor, seized me, pushed me to the floor, kicked me, and dragged me back into the room before taking my belongings.
In the interest of ensuring a successful movie premiere just a few days away, I hesitated initially, but I knew I needed to keep Mr. Combs content. So, in my own words, I expressed, “If I could manage to impress him with an exceptional performance, then my premiere would run without a hitch.
After he inflicted a black eye on her, she remarked, “At this juncture, all I could focus on was escaping that place safely. My premiere was approaching, and I didn’t wish to ruin it.” Upon being shoved to the floor in the hallway by him, Ventura stated, she remained there because “I didn’t want him to cause any further harm than he had already inflicted.
Testified Ventura, she consumed alcohol and ecstasy during her initial sexual encounter with an escort while in Combs’ presence. To endure what she referred to as “freak offs”, she would use marijuana, ketamine, mushrooms, or whatever drug was popular at the time.
“I couldn’t imagine myself doing any of that without having some sort of buffer,” she said.
Occasionally, she’d become so upset that she’d “vomit in reaction,” as Ventura explained, and Combs would urge me to “get back up and carry on with the argument.
She expressed to Combs that the actions, which left her feeling both terrible and insignificant, were not acceptable, Ventura explained, but he seemed to disregard her issues.
In a bizarre turn of events, should we ever have an altercation, my hotel room would find itself drenched in baby oil, as testified by Ventura. If Sean Combs had given orders for someone to soil the bed, there’d likely be traces of urine on those sheets. Moreover, if it so happened that I was on my period during our encounter, there could potentially be blood stains not only on the bedding but also on the surrounding furniture.
According to Ventura, the act left her feeling deeply embarrassed. She described it as “vile” and “overwhelming.” She struggled, didn’t want to be in that situation, and found herself trapped with no easy escape.
According to Ventura, it was something that excited him, which led to the event occurring. When Emily A. Johnson, the prosecutor, asked her why she didn’t resist Combs’ instructions in these instances, she responded by saying, “I believed it was clear that I didn’t want to participate.
On May 13, Ventura stated that Combs instructed her and others involved in the “freak off” activity to apply baby oil onto their bodies.
In court, she stated, “Sean required it to be hot and shiny, so we applied it every five minutes.
At the Montage Beverly Hills, during a surprising incident, Ventura claims Combs asked her to enter an inflatable pool filled with baby oil, while she was still dressed.
She wasn’t keen on it, but as Sean Combs expressed a desire for it, that was what was going to transpire, she added. “We employed ten standard-sized bottles of baby oil,” she concluded.
On May 13th, Ventura disclosed to prosecutors that during the early stages of her ten-year romantic involvement with Combs, he suggested incorporating voyeurism into their intimate activities. This started when she hired an escort and arranged for it so she could perform in front of Combs, who would observe her with another person.
In time, she found herself engaged in organizing adult acts that Combs referred to as “freak offs,” which could span from 36 hours up to four days. This role essentially turned into a full-time occupation for her.
She remembered, “I arranged for it in our hotel room and everything else, at first Sean organized it.
Ventura said that her “stomach churned” when he first proposed the experience.
She admitted, “I didn’t initially understand what would arouse him, but I took on the task.” She confessed to being perplexed, anxious, yet deeply in love with him and eager to bring joy to his life. It wasn’t something she desired or wished to do frequently, especially given the circumstances, but her affection for him was strong.
She admitted, “At some point, I felt I didn’t have much of a choice.”
As a devoted companion, I’d like to share my personal experience with you. From the years 2007 to 2018, I found myself in an on-again, off-again relationship with Combs. Regrettably, I must admit that he exhibited a pattern of violence towards me quite often during our time together.
She told the jury that the disputes between them were indeed intense, often escalating into acts of physical violence, such as him shoving her, causing her to fall, pulling her, and kicking her.
She mentioned that her wounds were frequently noticeable, explaining, “I’d develop lumps on my forehead, have black and red eyes, and sport bruises across my entire body.
On May 13, it was arranged for Ventura to testify following Daniel Philip, and Combs’ legal team asked that she be seated in the witness stand prior to the jury’s entrance, as she is eight months pregnant.
Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo expressed to the judge that he perceives an element of bias, stating: “I believe there’s a sentimental factor involved here. Pregnancy evokes feelings of beauty, wonder, and compassion.
It’s clear that Ventura was called in at a later stage, which suggests that his legal team’s motion was denied earlier in the trial.
On one specific instance when Ventura didn’t immediately respond to Combs’ call, Philip testified on May 12th that upon this refusal, Combs allegedly hurled a liquor bottle in her vicinity, then forcefully pulled her by the hair and dragged her into the bedroom. According to Philip, she was shouting at the time, and from his location in another room, it sounded like him striking her. Additionally, Philip claimed that he heard Combs say something along the lines of “I’ve told you to come here, you come here now, not later.
Phillip said he was “terrified” and did not intervene.
As a devoted bystander, I can confirm that I later testified to having overheard what appeared to be a distressing altercation between Combs and Ventura at the Essex House hotel in New York on another occasion. The sounds I heard were of a woman apologizing repeatedly, followed by someone being struck and violently moved about the room. Peeking around the corner, I caught a glimpse of Mr. Combs exiting the hotel entirely, seemingly bare-skinned, though he may have had a towel wrapped around him.
As a devoted follower, I shared the same space as Ventura, only moments later finding myself embraced by her in my lap. In his own words, he recounted, “She seemed determined to reassure me that ‘everything will be alright’ and ‘I should be fine.’ However, I firmly replied, ‘This is not a situation to be taken lightly, and you need professional assistance.’
“I tried to explain to her that she was in real danger if she stayed with him,” Phillip said.
In response to a question from prosecutor Maureen Comey regarding why he didn’t contact the authorities, Philip stated that he perceived Combs as someone with immense influence. He suggested that even if he had gone to the police, there was a possibility that he might still have faced danger.
During the specified timeframe, Daniel Philip claimed to have been managing a male striptease act. He testified that he was given several thousand dollars as payment for engaging in intimate acts with Ventura, while Combs observed from Manhattan’s Gramercy Hotel in 2012. Philip identified Combs by his voice, despite the fact that he wore a robe, a baseball cap, and a bandanna concealing his face.
Ventura compensated him and mentioned, “I’ll give you a tip when you depart,” Philip testified to the court. “Subsequently, we engaged in sexual activity, applying baby oil on each other for a brief period. Combs was found in a corner, engaging in self-stimulation.
Afterward, the witness continued, Ventura gave him “a couple of thousand more.”
Philip stated that during the following year, he received numerous instances of being invited to repeat such experiences with Ventura and Combs at different hotels and their homes in New York. He claimed that on one or two occasions, Combs videotaped him and Ventura engaging in intimate activities, and at times, Combs would insert himself into these encounters, having sex with Ventura while Philip was present.
In her 2023 legal action against her former partner for claims of sexual assault and physical violence, Ventura asserted that Combs compelled her into having intimate relations with male escorts.
According to Florez’s testimony, Ventura appeared frightened. She huddled in the corner with her hood up, hiding her face. A shattered flower vase was on the floor nearby.
After Ventura departed from the hotel, Florez stated that she had a noticeable purple eye. Later, when she was no longer present, Florez and the hotel manager went to Combs’ room to discuss the “hotel regulations.” According to Florez, Combs believed the manager was recording him on his phone and attempted to seize it. In response, he allegedly tried to grab Florez’s phone, but Florez testified that he restrained Combs against a wall. He added, “We informed him we weren’t recording him, and diffused the situation.
As a diligent observer, I personally witnessed the slowed-down surveillance footage of the incident, which had earlier been questioned for potential speed manipulation by the defense. The footage, as presented by prosecutors in May 2024 and published by CNN, appeared to show Combs striking, kicking, and pulling Ventura—an image that was initially claimed to be exaggerated due to alleged speeding up of the clip. Additionally, the jury was privy to video recordings made by Florez on his cell phone when he attended a distress call on the sixth floor.
According to Florez, he chose not to contact the police immediately since Ventura refused to discuss what had occurred and indicated that she simply wished to depart.
As a devoted hotel security personnel at the InterContinental back in 2016, I, Israel Florez, had the unfortunate encounter with an altercation between Combs and Ventura that took place on March 5th. In her initial address, Geragos emphasized that the footage of this dispute, initially publicized by CNN in May 2024, presented robust evidence of domestic violence—a claim primarily based on infidelity uncovered from a cell phone, rather than allegations related to sex trafficking.
On May 12th, Florez stated that he witnessed signs of a dispute on the day under investigation, and Combs allegedly gave him a pile of cash to ignore the incident.
In the heat of questioning, I unequivocally asserted that Combs’ gesture was, in my view, an attempt at bribing me.
In the initial remarks made by defense lawyer Teny Geragos, he asserted that the prosecution aimed to transform what was consensual sexual activity into a case of sex trafficking. However, he expressed his confidence that this attempt would ultimately prove unsuccessful.
“Sean Combs is a complicated man,” she said, “but this is not a complicated case.”
As a lifestyle advisor, I’d like to clarify that the focus here isn’t on Sean Combs’ private, intimate relationships, but rather on his legitimate professional endeavors. His personal life and business are separate entities.
During the trial, she informed the court that her client exhibited aggressive behavior, used illicit substances, and struggled with anger management issues. However, it’s important to remember that he is not on trial for being rude or unkind. The charges do not pertain to his behavioral qualities; they focus specifically on other alleged actions.
Geragos stated, “The evidence will portray an imperfect person, yet it won’t demonstrate someone involved in racketeering, sex trafficking, or transporting for prostitution.
Assistant District Attorney Emily Johnson alleged that Defendant Combs orchestrated an extensive team of workers to execute unlawful activities, such as extended “wild sprees” – a series of events described in the federal indictment, as reported by journalists from NBC News present in the courtroom.
Occasionally, he referred to himself as a king, demanding special treatment for his whims,” she explained to the court. “He exploited his businesses to exert power over women, compelling them into sexual acts with male escorts in his presence. He and his close associates ensured that all his wishes were fulfilled.
Johnson kicked off her case before the jurors by painting Combs as an extraordinarily charismatic individual who oversaw a criminal organization.
As an ardent fan, I’m recounting a chilling tale from the courtroom. Johnson, in his passionate narrative, pointed out a suspected transgression, claiming that Diddy, the Bad Boy Records founder, was relentlessly pursuing Ventura one fateful night following the news of her blossoming romance with another. Johnson asserted that, enraged by this revelation, Diddy allegedly subjected her to brutal violence. He claims Diddy kicked Ventura in the back and callously tossed her around like a fragile doll.
He made a threat, saying that if she disobeys him once more, he would expose videos of her engaging in intimate acts with male escorts, which he referred to as memories of her most embarrassing nights,” she went on.
The prosecutor alleged that Combs’ inner circle covered up “crime after crime.”
The presiding judge, Arun Subramanian, expressed his belief to the jury that the trial might wrap up by the 4th of July. He added that he was optimistic about finishing the trial by then, though there is a chance it could extend past this date, but he doesn’t foresee that happening.
On the opening day of my highly-publicized sex trafficking trial on May 12th, it was heartening to see my dear mother, Janice Combs, and no less than six of my eldest children standing by my side in solidarity.
The children of his late former partner Kim Porter, including Quincy Brown, Christian “King” Combs, Jessie Combs, and D’Lila Combs; his children with ex Misa Hylton, Justin Combs; and his daughter with ex Sarah Chapman, Chance Combs, all had the opportunity to embrace their father before he met with his lawyers.
Both the prosecution and Chris Combs’ legal team consented to a jury consisting of eight males and four females, along with four male and two female alternates for the trial proceedings.
Marc Agnifilo, representing Combs, contended that the prosecution appeared to be systematically excluding potential Black jurors. He emphasized to the judge that this could indicate a pattern, and urged them to require an explanation for these dismissals.
Nevertheless, Prosecutor Maurene Ryan Comey refuted the allegations by stating, “We’ve acted without any prejudice. Our jury is quite diverse, consisting of several individuals who are not white.
This group of twelve jurors, living either in New York City or Westchester, encompass a diverse range of professions. Among them are:
1. A 69-year-old male actor who also practices massage therapy.
2. A 31-year-old male investment analyst.
3. A 51-year-old male scientist.
4. A 30-year-old female deli clerk.
5. A 42-year-old female nursing home aide.
6. A 41-year-old male communications clerk at a correctional facility.
7. A 68-year-old retired banker.
8. A 68-year-old retired employee from a telecommunications company.
9. A 43-year-old female physician assistant.
10. A 39-year-old male social worker.
11. A 67-year-old male logistics analyst.
12. A 74-year-old female treatment coordinator.
