Why Mormon Wives' Zac Affleck Says Jen "Tricked" Him With Pregnancy

Zac Affleck wasn’t exactly trying for baby no. 3.

It was recently asserted by the main figure in “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” who is expecting their third child with him, that his wife, Jen Affleck, had cleverly persuaded him to grow their family.

Zac, father to Nora, aged 3, and Lucas who is just 22 months old, shared during a recent interview on the May 28 episode of The Viall Files podcast that they had babies almost consecutively. Jen conceived their second child only six months after giving birth to her first.

“I got tricked into it,” the 28-year-old added. “She took out her IUD without telling me.”

Jen’s reaction?

“Whoopsies,” the 25-year-old replied, “I forgot to tell you.”

Last year, I discovered I was pregnant, a revelation that took both me and Zac aback, given our marital turbulence at the time. This unexpected bundle of joy has certainly added an exciting twist to our lives!

The MomTok influencer shared with People magazine in February that, although it came as a surprise, we had an inkling there was another little one on the way. Needless to say, we were thrilled. It’s hard to express all the feelings after such a tumultuous year.

Simultaneously, the married pair, who tied the knot in 2019, a year following their college encounter, openly discussed the marital issues causing their temporary split during the production of the initial two seasons of the Hulu reality show.

She shared that when she felt it was time for her to step away from the relationship, she told him directly: “I’m making this move, and here’s why. This is what feels right to me. You can choose to join me on this journey, offer your support, or make a different decision.” On The Viall Files, she explained that while divorce wasn’t her preference, she was committed to doing what felt right for her. She believes that this assertion of her own voice has only strengthened their relationship because she is still in the process of finding and using it effectively.

In contrast, Jen feels no remorse over exposing the highs and lows of her marriage on television, making it visible to everyone globally.

She expressed that it would be ideal if individuals within Mormon society could examine our relationship and possibly recognize similar issues, saying something like, ‘Wow, we seem to face the same challenges.’ Alternatively, they might consider, ‘Perhaps my partner is perpetuating patriarchal norms and not treating me fairly.’ I aspire to serve as an example of this. Regrettably, some people may not appreciate that.
