Why Nick Jonas Ran Offstage in the Middle of Jonas Brothers Concert

As an ardent follower of music and a witness to numerous events in the industry, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of unease when incidents like these occur. The safety of artists and fans at concerts should never be compromised, especially considering the chilling reminders we have received over the years.

Nick Jonas took matters into his own hands.

During a performance at the O2 Arena in Prague on October 15, one of the Jonas Brothers took flight from the stage after someone in the audience shone a laser light towards him.

The Jonas Brothers’ show was temporarily halted because someone used an illegal laser pointer, as reported by a representative of the venue to Variety. The authorities took action and later, the band resumed their performance after a short break.

A video clip shared on social media shows Nick, during a live performance, abruptly exiting the stage while gesturing as if to call for a timeout. Later, Nick and his bandmates Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas returned to continue the concert, performing “BB Good.

There has been significant worry about the security of both artists and attendees at concerts, given the numerous incidents and tragic events that have occurred during performances in recent times. The most recent alarming incident occurred just two months ago when Taylor Swift canceled her three Eras Tour shows in Austria due to a reported terror threat. Fortunately, authorities were able to apprehend three suspects as part of the investigation into this alleged plot.

Based on the announcement made by government officials about an impending terror attack at the Ernst Happel Stadium, event organizers Barracuda Music had to unfortunately call off the scheduled performances for everyone’s protection.

For artists, it’s a difficult but necessary decision for everyone’s safety.

In August, Taylor expressed that the cancellations instilled a fresh wave of fear and an overwhelming sense of guilt within her, as numerous individuals had eagerly anticipated attending those performances. However, she also conveyed profound gratitude towards the authorities because their actions prevented us from mourning lost lives at concerts, instead allowing us to grieve over cancelled shows.

Since the tragic bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, U.K. in 2017 which claimed 23 lives and left over 1,000 injured, and the shooting incident at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas during Jason Aldean’s performance that resulted in 61 deaths and more than 800 injuries (the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in U.S. history), safety has become a pressing issue for artists.

And it’s something that will always haunt the country singer as he came to terms with that night.

In 2018, Jason shared with Entertainment Tonight, “Experiences like that cause one to view many aspects of life differently and appreciate its fleeting nature.” He added, “They motivate you to straighten up your acts and get organized. Undeniably, it had this effect on me.
