As a lifestyle expert and someone who deeply values authenticity and transparency, I have always admired Selma Blair‘s courage to share her experiences with the world, especially her struggles with multiple sclerosis (MS) and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Her recent interview with Us Weekly further highlights her resilience and determination to live life on her own terms.
Selma Blair is making her intentions known.
Despite having a new boyfriend, the actress from “Legally Blonde” is uncertain if marriage is an option currently due to her responsibilities as a single mother to her 12-year-old son Arthur, whom she shares with ex Jason Bleick, and her ongoing treatments for multiple sclerosis.
In an interview with Us Weekly published on July 17, Selma shared, “Balancing motherhood and pursuing a career while also scheduling blood treatments can be quite challenging. Consequently, relationships often take a back seat.” She continued, “Given this reality, I have no desire to get married as it increases the likelihood of failure.”
I can’t contain my excitement about my new partner. He may not be directly involved in the industry, but he has produced projects before.
“I wanted a Midwest man,” she joked, “and I found a real Midwest man.”
So, how did the couple meet?
She shared that she met her current boyfriend from a distance at a table, and added that she’s chosen to conceal his identity since “it’s preferable to keep love affairs away from the media limelight.”
She remarked, “People generally prefer avoiding criticism.” Yet, it’s true that one can discover love even at the age of fifty-two and beyond.
Despite being an alum of “Cruel Intentions,” she isn’t reticent about discussing her battles with MS and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a disorder that impacts connective tissues. Her appreciation grows as people respond positively to her candor.
I’ve found being truthful about my diagnosis and sharing my experiences openly has brought profound richness to my life. There have been moments, like sitting at a table with tears streaming down my face, when a note appears, left by someone whose child was touched by my story. Words like “You changed my daughter’s life” or “My daughter dances again with newfound confidence” bring me immense joy and fulfillment.
Selma continued, “And I feel like the luckiest person in the world. It makes me so emotional.”
And now with a strong support system, the Hellboy star is “so much happier.”
In the darkness of the world, I’ve made it a point to seek out beauty, she shared, adding that she has been thriving by doing so.
