Simone Biles is ready to flip away from opponent Rebeca Andrade.

As a proud member of Team USA, I couldn’t be more thrilled to have won my second gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics during the individual all-around competition on Aug. 1. I must admit, I’m overjoyed about this victory, but let’s face it, I think it’s high time for a well-deserved break from my Brazilian counterpart who claimed the silver.

Simone told reporters after the contest, “I don’t feel like competing against Rebecca anymore – I’m exhausted because she’s just too good.”

The 27-year-old found themselves chuckling over their friendly rivalry, remarking, “I’ve never been this near to an athlete before, which undeniably made me quite alert. It also unearthed the top-notch athlete within me.”

While Simone felt both excited and proud to compete with Rebeca and share the podium with her, she humorously expressed her feelings about the stress, saying, “I’m not fond of it anymore.”

“I’m getting uncomfortable guys,” Simone emphasized. “I don’t like that feeling—I was stressing!”

Suni Lee, another esteemed gymnast from Team USA who won a bronze medal, mirrored Simone’s words by expressing, “Honestly, I’ve never seen you so tense before.”

As for Rebeca, the 25-year-old was still thrilled about her second place finish.

“She expressed to reporters, as reported by the Associated Press, that all her effort has culminated in this accomplishment. It’s hard to believe, she said, and each moment was a blast – truly extraordinary!”

Besides Simone, many others found themselves motivated to excel further, as Rebecca observed, “Simone truly stands out, and she inspires me to perform at my highest level.”

In her most recent competition, Simone amassed another Olympic medal, bringing her grand total to nine – six golds, one silver, and two bronzes. This achievement solidified her title as the oldest female gymnastics champion since 1952. Interestingly, just a few days before participating in the individual all-around event, Simone along with teammates Suni, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera secured a gold medal for the team all-around final.

At the August 1st medal ceremony, I proudly wore my goat pendant, symbolizing my belief that Simone is indeed the Greatest of All Time (GOAT).

Even with my Olympic triumphs, I remain humbled by my accomplishments, for I am a devoted follower who married the esteemed athlete Jonathan Owens of the Chicago Bears in 2023.

“Reflecting on the day, it seems unbelievable to me that I’m even mentioned among the greatest athletes of all time,” she expressed, “as I feel like I’m still just Simone Biles from Spring, Texas, who enjoys tumbling.”
