In the seventh season of “The Rookie,” fresh threats have emerged that could persist throughout the show’s future. Creator and showrunner Alexi Hawley reveals a reason why one ongoing antagonist is yet to be apprehended following the season finale. Spanning over six seasons, the cast of “The Roke” has integrated numerous side characters and villains who have garnered as much adoration from fans as the main characters themselves. I am unsure at this point, but rest assured, he will make a comeback again.

Since the initial season, Oscar Hutchinson has been recognized as one of “The Rookie”‘s top antagonists. While season 7 of “The Rookie” introduces plots like Liam Glasser’s trial and the construction of a malevolent AI, Oscar Hutchinson’s return and subsequent escape are central to the conflict that culminates in the season finale. As per Hawley’s statements, it wasn’t just that Oscar escaped to keep his story unfinished but rather because he intends to reappear in “The Rookie” season 8.

It’s quite intriguing, considering Monica’s unexpected reveal at the close of The Rookie season 7 finale – she had taken confidential data to force the LAPD into granting her an immunity deal.
