Why Transfomers One Deserves a Sequel ASAP

As a fan who has grown up with the Transformers franchise, I can confidently say that “Transformers One” has breathed new life into this iconic series. The film’s unique take on the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron is nothing short of spectacular, and it deserves to continue its journey in a sequel.

The first movie in the Transformers series, Transformers One, has brought a fresh perspective to the franchise by introducing a new origin story, making it worthy of continuing this updated narrative. Over time, the Transformers series has undergone many changes with various creators contributing different versions, including remakes, reboots, sequels and more. Despite these alterations, each Transformers film has found its unique path to reach the core themes that fans are familiar with.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel a sense of familiarity when it comes to “Transformers One”. It breathes new life into iconic characters like Optimus Prime and Megatron, only to conclude with them resuming their roles as leaders of the Autobots and Deceptions – a development that long-time fans will readily recognize. While this standalone tale offers a fresh perspective on Transformers lore seldom explored at such a grand scale, it undeniably serves as an origin story. A narrative that demands continuation, urging for an official sequel to unfold the rest of the compelling saga.

Why Transfomers One Deserves a Sequel ASAP

Why Transformers One Needs a Sequel

The title of the next “Transformers” film hints at being a sequel to the first one. The inclusion of a ‘one’ in the title symbolizes that the plot returns to its initial stage, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter for the franchise. This deliberate naming convention suggests that a new installment is likely to follow at some point in the future. However, this is more about the business aspects, and luckily, the movie itself sets up an engaging continuation with numerous opportunities for further storytelling.

In Transformers One, we delve into the beginnings of not just Optimus Prime and Megatron, but also the Autobots and Decepticons as a group. This retrospective on Cybertron uncovers a rich tapestry of characters and tales. Though these figures have appeared in various forms before, this fresh narrative expands the scope of the Transformers saga, offering new perspectives on the conflict over Cybertron. Although the Quintessons provided an initial adversary, it was only when Megatron entered the scene that the movie truly took off.

When the true adversary of the movie, Transformers One, is unmasked in the third act, it races forward at such a thrilling pace that it’s captivating to watch Optimus Prime and Megatron in their anticipated roles. The backstory has set the stage for this twist to be engaging, thereby establishing Orion and D-16 as richly developed characters who will undoubtedly become even more intricate as the movie series progresses with subsequent installments. It’s worthy of continued exploration.

Transformers One: How to Make a Sequel

Thankfully, the Transformers franchise has been so varied over the years that it’s entirely possible to release both live-action and animated takes on the universe that will still feel different from one another. As the live-action franchise finds a new way to reboot itself with its upcoming G.I. Joe crossover, the animated version of the franchise has thankfully already figured it out with Transformers One. This could be the launching point for a new trilogy, and potentially beyond as we can now see Optimus and Megatron fighting on Cybertron before even getting to Earth. Which will then further distinguish itself from the live-action films.

When it comes to creating a sequel, Paramount has shown us the way by continuing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise in an innovative manner. After the success of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem”, they’ve announced not just another movie, but also a streaming series – “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” – which has its unique style to stand out from the film. This is the same strategy that the Transformers franchise should employ for their sequel, offering a distinct approach for their new installment.

As a die-hard Transformers fan, I’m eagerly hoping for both a new movie and a TV series sequel. While Transformers One did an excellent job with the main duo of Optimus and Megatron, there are numerous other characters from the original franchise that didn’t get their due on the big screen. A TV series would be the perfect platform to delve deeper into the lives of these lesser-known Transformers, while still keeping the film sequel focused on the core dynamic between Optimus and Megatron. This way, we can expand this captivating cinematic universe in various directions, enriching the storyline for us fans.

We’re Getting More Transformers Either Way

The cold hard truth of the matter, however, is that we’re going to get new Transformers either way. Whether it’s a sequel to Transformers One, or another animated movie trying yet another new take on it all, we’re going to see Transformers sticking around just as it had for all these years before. It’s been four decades since Transformers first started out (even celebrating its 40th anniversary this Summer), and in all that time we’ve got many beginnings and endings for these characters. But Transformers One is the first truly great start that we have seen on the big screen in quite a long time.

As this movie is part of an age-old franchise, it presents the task of offering a unique perspective on the Transformers storyline that hasn’t been explored yet. Remarkably, Transformers One manages to accomplish this feat. Although future installments like sequels or third films might present different scenarios (as maintaining originality becomes increasingly challenging with each production), it’s worth taking the risk and continuing the story with a sequel. Let’s wait and see how things unfold from here. It’s now time to witness the complete movie and appreciate what this adaptation of Optimus Prime and Megatron offers.
