In essence, humanity has a history of violence dating back to our earliest days. As the story goes in Genesis, even with just four individuals on Earth, it became overpopulated and conflict arose. The first murder, tragically, was fratricide – Cain, the first born child of mortals, succumbed to jealousy and ended another human’s life brutally. Upon entering my apartment, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of empathy for poor Cain.
The past few years have been tough for many, I’d wager. The dawn of the new millennium brought about significant turmoil: wars, economic recessions, censorship, pandemics, invasions, inflation, inequalities, and fear. Initially, it might seem that one hardship follows another in a predictable sequence. However, as time went on, the series of events began to feel less like a natural progression and more like something orchestrated, even planned.
Amidst current circumstances, some might view entertainment as an insignificant or trivial concern. However, recent personal experiences have made me ponder deeply about where we choose to direct our focus and what truly adds purpose to our lives. As I grapple with these questions, I believe it could be enlightening to delve into the reasons behind our battles in the cultural sphere.
The Aim of Man
It’s important for me to learn about politics and war so that my children can focus on studying subjects like mathematics, philosophy, geography, natural history, and more. I hope that they will carry on this learning by studying topics such as naval architecture, navigation, commerce, agriculture, and continue to expand their knowledge in areas like painting, poetry, music, architecture, sculpture, textiles, and ceramics. This way, future generations can explore even broader fields of study.
John Adams, in a letter to Abigail Adams
John penned a letter to Abigail, expressing regret that he couldn’t take time to detail the grandeur of Versailles’ statues and gardens during his stay in France. He pointed out that our burgeoning nation required individuals skilled in practical arts at that particular moment. Although learning about art and aesthetics seemed more appealing, pressing matters related to politics and war demanded his attention.
The statement might appear as if it undermines the value of arts appreciation and criticism, but what it truly addresses is the necessity to address immediate concerns in order to experience the transcendent. The ultimate goal for humans is achieving a state of tranquility and serenity that allows them to concentrate on truth, beauty, and the Divine.
The Fall of Man
When people cease to seek truth, beauty, and the extraordinary, the world loses harmony. Art, whether intentionally created or not, serves as a form of expression – it allows individuals from diverse backgrounds to communicate and share thoughts that transcend language.
Art, at its peak, has the power to evoke deep emotional responses that might even leave someone in tears of happiness. Regrettably, it can also be misused to demoralize, deceive, or extinguish hope. Not every piece of art shares the same value, and it should not escape criticism. Yet, art holds a unique ability to touch a heart where no argument ever could.
In a different perspective, art transcends the purely tangible realms. Ponder over this: why do we feel such an affinity towards music? What rational justification does music carry? It’s fascinating that those who can hear, from infancy and even before they grasp the “rules” of music, are still moved by it. This suggests a profound, perhaps irrational connection.
It’s something wholly unique to man.
When we fail to appreciate or even distort the worth of our cultural heritage, there’s a risk of degrading humanity as a whole. Leaders may transform into tyrants, workers into mere machines, and children into burdens. In such a scenario, humanity finds itself in a state of internal conflict.
The Practical Application – Meaning
As a passionate appreciator of art, I find solace in its ability to bestow significance upon our existence. It serves as a beacon, guiding us through the complexities of life by offering perspectives we might otherwise miss. Art has this extraordinary power to reveal, interpret, and evoke emotions that transcend mere words or thoughts.
Working the land is a burden for humans, yet if life consisted solely of labor, weeds would soon overtake everything.
Over the past few years, it’s been evident what transpires when leaders and corporations treat people and their cultures as mere assets to control, manipulate, profit from, or discard. This isn’t a resurgence of traditional socialism or communism as some claim, but rather a modern form of feudalism where those in power – be it the government or big business – act as rulers over their subjects.
The potential risk associated with DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), and corporate/government alliances lies in its progression towards social credit systems and authoritative control, bolstered by government authority. This is a reality that the global hedge fund managers are acutely aware of.
Put simply, the danger is that these initiatives could evolve into systems that monitor, evaluate, and potentially control individuals’ behavior, using the power of governments to enforce their standards.
If Earth’s leaders possess the ability to strip away the things that provide us with individual purpose, our very spirits become tarnished. A civilization that disregards truth and aesthetics is hurtling towards a destructive path akin to Hell.
Conclusion
I’ve discovered through tough experience that job devoid of purpose, regardless of how lucrative it may seem, can ultimately harm an individual. While there seems to be a hopeful shift in society, the struggle is far from resolved. We face formidable adversaries and forces that show no signs of relenting in their battle.
It is incumbent on us to continue to resist them.
My child dreams deeply of becoming a musician. To help him achieve this goal, it’s crucial for me to learn about the principles of strategy in warfare and the intricacies of politics, so I can create an environment where he can thrive and cultivate his musical talents effectively.
THAT is why we fight.
