Will Ospreay Responds to Ricochet's AEW Debut: "I'm Really Happy For Him."

As a seasoned gamer of wrestling rings and storylines spanning decades, I can hardly contain my excitement about Ricochet joining AEW! The former Intercontinental Champion adding his flips and finesse to the ranks is a dream come true for fans who’ve longed for his high-flying antics outside WWE.

Ricochet has now joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He made his debut at the AEW ALL IN: London event last Sunday, participating in the Casino Gauntlet Match as a surprise contestant. Although he was impressive during the match, it was Christian Cage who ultimately won by pinning Kyle O’Reilly. There have been rumors of Ricochet joining AEW since May, and now that he has officially signed with the company, his contract is for several years. The specifics of his deal are currently confidential.

Will Ospreay Responds to Ricochet’s AEW Debut

As a devoted fan, I couldn’t wait to see how quickly Ricochet’s new AEW collaborator would react to his grand entrance.

At the AEW ALL IN: London post-match news conference, AEW International Champion Will Ospreay addressed the prospect of renewing his feud with Ricochet. He mentioned that, due to AEW’s recent signing, Ricochet is currently placed behind others in line for a potential rematch.

Ospreay stated, “A person must put in the effort for it,” referring to the arduous journey ahead. “Before he can claim the title of International Champion, there are numerous opponents he needs to conquer. It’s been eight years since our Best of Super Juniors match, and since then, we’ve each followed our own paths. We’ve both achieved success. Now, under the spotlight, I wonder if he has the courage. He’s proven he can show up. I’m eager to see what he’ll do in AEW. I’m thrilled and genuinely happy for him.”

The call outs started after Ospreay had an exclusive chat with ComicBook in May. During this conversation, he was asked about whether he still follows Ricochet’s work since they both made a significant impact on the wrestling scene through independent circuits years ago. In a straightforward manner, Ospreay voiced his disappointment over Ricochet’s WWE booking and advised him to take risks and “put his faith in himself.”

One week after, Ricochet submitted his resignation to WWE, and within a month, he was removed from WWE programming and transferred to the alumni section on the WWE.com roster page. For most of the summer, Ricochet kept a low profile, but he made his debut in AEW this past Sunday at AEW ALL IN: London. It is unclear how long AEW will wait before reigniting the feud between Ospreay and Ricochet, but it’s worth mentioning that Ricochet’s first televised match in AEW is against Kyle Fletcher, a fellow wrestler who has been associated with Ospreay for a long time.

Ricochet makes his AEW TV debut this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, which airs at 8 PM ET on TBS.
