Actor Anirudh Pisharody, who plays Ravi Panikkar in the series “9-1-1”, discusses the possibility of Ravi becoming a permanent member of the 118 team. Since season 4, Pisharody has made recurring appearances on the show, debuting in the episode titled “Jinx”. However, during season 8, he has been more frequently featured on the first-responder series, replacing Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) who moved to Texas. This regular presence has sparked rumors that Ravi might join the 118 team permanently when the next season of “9-1-1” starts.
During an interview with Rachel Foertsch on Ebaster, Pisharody discussed the potential of Ravi returning for season 9. The actor shared his affection for the series, hinting at his excitement about the possibility. In a light-hearted manner, Pisharody even suggested starting a petition to persuade showrunner and co-creator Tim Minear to bring Ravi on board. Here’s what the actor humorously said:
“I might have to start a petition for Tim Minear to let Ravi back on the show. I mean, who doesn’t love Ravi?
It’s an intriguing query you’ve posed. I wonder if I could pose the same to you. I believe the format of this series lends itself to such complexity – there are numerous characters and storylines. If the opportunity aligns perfectly, it will materialize. I’ll propose the idea to Tim. I’ll create a petition on petition.org and request signatures for it. I truly hope it comes to fruition. I’m deeply invested in this show, its characters, and they’ve become an integral part of my life in many ways.
What Pisharody Becoming A Main Cast Member Would Mean For 9-1-1
It’d Be A Great Addition
Following the demise of Captain Bobby Nash and the departure of lead actor Peter Krause, the series “9-1-1” finds itself in need of some continuity. This is where Ravi comes in, having been a part of the show since its inception. However, his connection to the other main characters was deepened when they said goodbye to their leader, making him even more integral as the series enters its ninth season. Yet, considering Bobby’s death aside, Ravi underwent significant changes during season 8, which makes him a prime candidate for a leading role.
Initially, Ravi steps into Eddie’s role, initially receiving less attention, but as the series progresses, he becomes more integrated. He shares a deep conversation with Oliver Stark’s character, Buck, and demonstrates bravery when the 118 team faces a critical moment. The significant yet subtle instances, such as those occurring behind the scenes, have predominantly been excluded from the screen. However, this is exactly why it could be beneficial to have Pisharody present more consistently throughout the series.
Our Take On Anirudh Pisharody’s 9-1-1 Future
He’s Gotta Stick Around
Pisharody consistently shines in his role as Ravi whenever he significantly appears on the show. If he becomes a permanent cast member, following years of being adored by fans, it could help regain audience favor after Bobby’s death was such a surprising and disheartening turn of events. It would also open up opportunities to delve deeper into an enigmatic character, offering a more captivating and novel experience in the world of 9-1-1.
