Windows Recall finally opens its doors to Intel and AMD with latest preview

What you need to know

  • Microsoft has rolled out the Windows Recall preview to more Copilot+ PCs.
  • Now, Intel and AMD-powered Copilot+ PCs can try out Windows Recall and Click To Do.
  • Other Copilot+ features, such as image generation and Studio Effects, are now also available on Intel and AMD Copilot+ PCs.

As a seasoned researcher who has navigated the digital landscape for years, I can confidently say that Microsoft’s decision to expand the Windows Recall preview is a significant step forward. Having been left out of the Copilot+ party for quite some time, Intel and AMD-powered PC users are finally getting their chance to taste what the fuss is about.

At last, the moment has arrived! As an analyst, I’m thrilled to announce that Microsoft is extending the Windows Recall preview to an array of Copilot+ PCs running the most recent Windows 11 Dev Channel Preview Build. This means that Copilot+ PCs, both Intel and AMD-powered, now have the opportunity to delve into all the innovative Copilot+ features, including Recall, Click To Do, and Image Generation.

So far, only computers powered by Snapdragon, specifically those with the Copilot+ feature, have been granted access to advanced Copilot+ functionalities. Regrettably, PCs using Intel and AMD chips, which also carry the Copilot+ label, have been excluded from enjoying even fundamental features like on-device language translation.

It’s exciting to witness Microsoft’s popular Copilot+ features, Remember and Click To Do, being tested on all Copilot+ PCs at last. The preview is currently live, suggesting these features could start appearing outside the Insider Program by early 2025, with a potential release as early as February or March.

Try out the fresh Testing Experience in this latest Insider Build, featuring “Click-to-Analyze” functionality powered by AI. By simply pressing the Windows key followed by a mouse click, you can analyze anything displayed on your screen. It’s quite similar to Google’s Circle Search and functions seamlessly across the entire operating system and within any application.

Unfortunately, Click To Do’s advanced features are currently limited to Snapdragon X PCs, as they utilize Microsoft’s Phi Silica SLM technology, which is only compatible with Arm processors for now. However, Intel and AMD PCs will be able to access this technology in the near future.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been relying on Windows Recall, which has turned out to be a remarkably potent tool for boosting productivity. The ability to retrieve anything you’ve ever done or encountered on your computer is incredibly useful, particularly when it comes to content that has been erased or misplaced, such as written work or articles you’ve read.
