Wolf Hall and Sharp Objects stars join Andrew Scott in WWII film Pressure

As a history enthusiast who has spent countless hours delving into the annals of World War II, I am absolutely thrilled to see such a star-studded cast coming together for “Pressure.” Having grown up watching these actors on the silver screen, it’s surreal to imagine them breathing life into the characters that shaped one of history’s most pivotal moments.

The production of the new World War II movie titled Pressure commenced recently, with Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, and Kerry Condon in the cast as earlier announced.

However, these stars aren’t the sole celebrities gracing the impressive roster. The recently added Chris Messina from “Sharp Objects” and Damian Lewis from “Wolf Hall” are also joining the cast for this high-profile production.

In the direction of Anthony Maras (Hotel Mumbai), the film, titled Pressure, narrates the remarkable true events leading to the three-day build-up before D-Day.

In this production, David Haig and Anthony Maras have adapted the script for the screen. Andrew Scott portrays Britain’s chief meteorologist James Stagg, while Bryan Cranston takes on the role of Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D Eisenhower, and Logan Lerman stars as Eisenhower’s trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby.

In the latest casting news, Irving P Krick will be played by Messina, while Lewis has been assigned the part of Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery.

Studio Canal’s CEO Anna Marsh, EVP Production Ron Halpern, and SVP Global Production Joe Naftalin expressed their excitement about rejoining forces with their long-term partners at Working Title, as well as collaborating with talented filmmaker Anthony Maras on this unique project.

Anthony has gathered an exceptional team of talents, and the thrilling true tale of the crucial last-minute decisions leading up to D-Day promises to be both tense and extraordinary. We’re eagerly looking forward to unveiling Anthony’s courageous and captivating cinematic perspective to global audiences next year.

As a passionate moviegoer, I’d put it this way: “From Haig’s critically acclaimed play that shone on the West End stage, the plot unfolds: In the crucial 72 hours before D-Day, every piece seems to be falling into place – everything, that is, except for one pivotal factor: the unpredictable British weather.

In an unprecedented situation, meteorologist James Stagg is tasked with making the most critical weather prediction in history. This puts him squarely against all the Allied commanders, as incorrect conditions could catastrophically impact the largest naval invasion ever attempted. However, any delay in his forecast might give the Germans an opportunity to uncover our plans.

Under the weight of just one trustworthy ally, Captain Kay Summersby, and plagued by a disastrous prelude to D-Day, the ultimate responsibility falls upon the shoulders of Supreme Allied Commander, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

“With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance.”
