Wolf Hall’s Mark Gatiss says not being able to return for season 2 was “a killer”

As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for historical dramas and British productions, I must say that the recasting of Stephen Gardiner in Wolf Hall’s second season was a bit jarring at first. However, having seen Mark Gatiss‘s stellar work in Sherlock and Doctor Who, it is evident that he is a versatile actor who can easily slip into other roles with equal finesse.

In the latest season of Wolf Hall, many viewers found it equally captivating as the original. Yet, some enthusiasts of this historical drama were taken aback when they noticed that several characters had been recast in the sequel, titled The Mirror and The Light.

Mark Gatiss, famously recognized for his contributions to shows like Sherlock and Doctor Who, first portrayed the character in Wolf Hall. This character was a cunning bishop, named Richard Cromwell, who endeavored to outsmart Thomas Cromwell, played by Mark Rylance.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! If you’re a fan of Steven Moffat Gatiss, there’s another chilling Ghost Story in store for us this holiday season! His special adaptation of E Nesbit’s “Woman of Stone” is scheduled to grace our screens on Christmas Eve. Can’t wait!
