Wolverine #1 First Look Features an Old Enemy and a Familiar X-Man (Exclusive)

As a longtime fan of Wolverine and the X-Men, I’m thrilled to see Logan embarking on a new solo adventure in the all-new ongoing series, Wolverine: From the Ashes. The exclusive previews of the first issue have only fueled my excitement!

Wolverine decides to depart from the X-Men to embark on a new journey in his own solo comic book series. Following Krakoa’s downfall, Marvel initiates a fresh start for the X-Men franchise with a line-wide relaunch. One of these titles is a new “Wolverine” series penned by Saladin Ahmed and illustrated by Martin Coccolo. In this storyline, Wolverine returns to the Canadian wilderness to reconnect with his wolf pack. However, expect chaos to follow him. This series caters to both long-term fans and newcomers, as demonstrated in the sneak peek of issue one.

As a longtime fan of Wolverine comic books, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the exclusive first look at issue #1 by Saladin Ahmed and Martin Coccolo, as revealed by ComicBook. The opening scene captures the essence of Logan living his best life, running bare-chested through the serene Canadian snow, with wolves at his side. It’s a peaceful moment that could represent Wolverine connecting with nature or preparing for a hunt.

As a gamer, I can tell you that towards the end of the story, I come across a heart-wrenching scene where my good friend Nightcrawler, a fellow X-Man, stumbles upon a grisly discovery in the forest – a group of slain individuals. Suddenly, he’s under attack from an unexpected source: Wolverine. However, there’s a problem – Wolverine has a keen sense of smell, and he’s hot on Kurt Wagner’s trail. So, it’s just a matter of time before I’m cornered.

Wolverine writer previews new X-Men: From the Ashes series

In the X-Men: From the Ashes sampler, Salad Ahmed expressed that we will find him together with Logan following significant worldwide occurrences that impacted mutants and humans alike. To put it mildly, Logan is drained. He has distanced himself from societal structures but, rest assured, the world still has plans for him.

Ahmed went on to discuss the addition of Nightcrawler in the show. With a gleam in his eyes, he shared, “I don’t want to give away too many secrets, but I adore Kurt as a character and think their dynamic is fantastic next to Wolverine.” He continued, “Instead of portraying him as cynical or gruesome, I prefer to make him swashbuckling. And instead of keeping his feelings hidden behind stoicism, I enjoy exploring the emotional depths when these two are together. It’s not just about the action and witty banter – their conversations reveal so much about their personalities.”

The exclusive first look at Wolverine #1 is below. The issue goes on sale in September.
