Prepare for the imminent confrontation between Logan and his age-old adversary, Sabretooth, in the thrilling saga of Wolverine: Retribution. Renowned writers Jonathan Hickman and Greg Capullo have joined forces on this standalone, limited series titled Wolverine: Retribution, aiming to deliver a powerful punch. The tragic demise of heroes such as Captain America, the Winter Soldier, and even a former X-Men teammate has set Wolverine on a path of vengeance against his most formidable adversaries. As always, a story about Wolverine wouldn’t be complete without Sabretooth. Although Victor Creed might not be at his peak fighting ability, he still harbors resentment, and Wolverine is ready to put an end to their long-standing feud in a bloody climax.
In the latest installment of “Wolverine: Revenge” #5, penned by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Greg Capullo, Tim Townsend, and Alex Sinclair, Marvel has offered a sneak peek. A distinctive aspect of this limited series is the time leap in each issue, resulting in an older version of Wolverine and Sabretooth ready for combat than fans are used to. The grizzled Wolverine dons his signature brown attire, with a gray beard visible beneath his mask. Conversely, Sabretooth navigates around in Professor Charles Xavier’s golden hoverchair. However, Sabretooth isn’t fighting solo in this battle; he’s enlisted the aid of Colossus’ son.
Over time, Wolverine has been intermittently visiting Sabretooth while inflicting damage on him by amputating certain parts of his body. This explains why Sabretooth is confined to a hoverchair for mobility. It’s clear that he no longer possesses his legs and lower torso, and also lacks his right eye. In the upcoming issue, Colossus’ son seeks revenge against Wolverine for slaying his father in a prior storyline. He bears a striking resemblance to Colossus and carries Magik’s Soulsword on his back.
In a provoking attempt, Wolverine taunts Sabretooth, labeling him a coward who relies on others to fight his battles. This strategy seems effective, as Sabretooth growls menacingly before commanding, “Do it now, kid!” The specifics of what follows are left unclear, as the sneak peek at Wolverine: Revenge #5 concludes here.
Marvel’s ‘Wolverine: Revenge’ is among the titles that receive a mature rating, much like how they did with their first red band comic, ‘Blood Hunt.’ The individual issues of this vampire-themed series were sealed in plastic and labeled as containing graphic violence and blood.
In the fifth issue of Wolverine: Revenge, the text states, “Time doesn’t mend everything, not even a unique healing ability can fill the void in WOLVERINE’S soul.” This story unfolds many generations later, where revenge is meted out with a chilling coldness as past transgressions are avenged. The creators, Jonathan Hickman and Greg Capullo, bring an epic conclusion to their critically acclaimed miniseries!
