Wonder Man: Release Date, Episodes Revealed!

As a die-hard movie buff, I must say that the long-awaited arrival of Marvel Studios’ “Wonder Man” is music to my ears! Finally, the MCU has given us a sneak peek into the details we’ve been craving, with the number of episodes and their running times for this series now unveiled. Although Krysten Ritter’s return as Jessica Jones in “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2 was undeniably the star of Disney’s upfront presentation, footage from both “Ironheart” and “Wonder Man” also stole the show. While we still have to wait until the tail end of 2025 for “Wonder Man” to debut in Marvel’s Phase 6, there has been a tantalizing reveal of what lies ahead for this series.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming show named Wonder Man consists of eight 30-minute episodes. This makes it the first half-hour live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. In total, there are now three such series in this category, with WandaVision being the other two, as all three have been classified as Marvel’s “half-hour comedies” rather than one-hour dramas.

The upcoming “Wonder Man” series will feature eight episodes, a typical count for live-action MCU series that can range from six to nine episodes. Notably, shows like “Loki”, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, and “Ms. Marvel” have six episodes, while “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”, “WandaVision”, and “Daredevil: Born Again” have nine. As previously hinted in Disney+’s video revealing their Marvel 2025 lineup, the series is still scheduled for release in December 2025.

‘Wonder Man’s Place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Plans

The series titled “Wonder Man” features Simon Williams, previously known as Black Manta from the DC Universe, playing a superpowered character. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” co-created this show. Previously, Cretton was slated to direct “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” but had to abandon that project when it was cancelled. Since then, he has taken up the reins for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Notably, Cretton isn’t the only link between “Shang-Chi” and “Wonder Man,” as Ben Kingsley will return as Trevor Slattery, a character first seen in “Iron Man 3” and subsequently in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Positioning “Wonder Man” as one of Marvel Studios’ more humorous shows, akin to “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” aligns well with Simon Williams’ character and closely mirrors the comics. By centering on his background as an actor, “Wonder Man” can emulate series like “Extra,” “Entourage,” and “The Studio.” This potential show could poke fun at the film and television industry from a superhero perspective. With its planned debut in December, “Wonder Man” stirs up intriguing questions.

Phase 6 is set to include a live-action project, which appears to be the first after “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” This project may air prior to the special presentation of “The Punisher” and Season 2 of “Daredevil: Born Again.” It remains uncertain whether Wonder Man will connect with the MCU’s future projects for “Avengers: Doomsday” or Cretton’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” In the comics, Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, is a prominent Avenger, but there are questions about his inclusion in future films. There have been whispers that Abdul-Mateeen II could reprise his role as Wonder Man in either “Avengers: Doomsday” or “Avengers: Secret Wars.” However, the character’s role in the storyline suggests it might be a delightful cameo rather than a significant part in the action.
