In the aftermath of Steve Trevor’s death at the hands of the Sovereign, Wonder Woman merged a fragment of her spirit with that of Steve’s to create their child, Lizzie, from clay. The first issue of Lizzie’s standalone miniseries titled ‘Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman‘ has just been released. However, it might be misleading to label it a solo series since Lizzie collaborates with three other incarnations of herself from various time periods to accomplish their joint mission. The principal objective, as stated by the oldest Lizzie, is to round up the canine-transformed versions of Damian and Jon that have been scattered throughout different eras, preventing them from causing any further disruptions to the timeline. Yet, the two younger Lizzies harbor a hidden agenda. They intend to travel back in time and rescue their father from his untimely demise. Interestingly enough, Steve Trevor also has a prearranged meeting with his daughter in the past.
Lizzie, Lizzie, and Lizzie Come Together
The story begins when Lil’ Lizzie, often called Wonder Robin during secret missions with Damian, was a very young girl. An argument between Damian and Jon about who their father would defeat in a fight led Lil’ Lizzie, on her own, to leave the house and sit on a swing, weeping for her absent father. Her teenage self, known as Wonder Girl, then appeared from a Time Sphere, having returned to comfort the younger girl. Traumatized by this memory, Wonder Girl proposed they use the Time Sphere to find Lil’ Lizzie’s father. However, she couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t cause them to disappear. Touched by Lil’ Lizzie’s tears, Wonder Girl realized that she would have found a solution in a few years. They then traveled into the future, where they encountered their adult self, Trinity, who was surprised and disapproving of their meddling with the timeline. After returning Lil’ Lizzie to her time, Trinity discovered that both Damian and Jon from each timeline had been transformed into corgis due to the changes in the timeline.
Apart from that, they pursued them into the Time Sphere, and currently, they can appear in any location across time, wreaking havoc wherever they go. In response, the trio decides to separate, taking on two of their corgi-transformed brothers each, to prevent any lasting harm. Since Wonder Girl and Trinity are invulnerable, they delegate Wonder Robin for a solo mission to locate two of them. This situation results in one of the darkest instances of humor involving Pariah on a doomed world, while she adopts a young Super-Corgi Puppy (a young Jon Kent). As she leaves Pariah to his destiny, she hints at a secret plan with Wonder Girl to save their father without Trinity’s knowledge. Meanwhile, Steve Trevor devises a strategy of his own in the realm of the gods. Known for his quick thinking and offbeat wit, he overpowers the Three Fates and seizes control of his daughter’s fate string, declaring that all he needs is her.
This is the Weirdest Family Reunion
By the end of this series, it remains to be seen if the girls can revive Steve Trevor or not, but there will certainly be a gathering among them. This is undeniably an unusual family reunion, considering we have multiple iterations of the same person – from five years old to her twenties – and three distinct renditions of Batman and Superman’s offspring turned into puppies, all while dealing with a deceased individual. In terms of comic book events, this gathering promises to be quite extraordinary. Additionally, there’s a chance that other characters could become involved, such as Wonder Woman stepping into her daughter’s adventures.
Regardless of whatever challenges Lizzie and Steve might face, one thing I’m certain about is that their family is guided primarily by an unyielding love. Their parents have consistently chosen to resist the predetermined course of fate, even swimming against the currents of time itself, to stand with the ones they cherish. Much like Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, who have defied gods and the passage of time to be together, their daughter is undoubtedly as resolute in her quest to connect with the father she never knew. This family’s love is a force more powerful than the universe itself, and I eagerly anticipate how they will share this love with the world around them. As for Wonder Robin and the corgis, they are just too cute!
