Worried

Without a doubt, MobLand has been a massive success, shattering Paramount+’s previous records with the Guy Ritchie series and leaving viewers spellbound. However, Pierce Brosnan‘s accent has become a focal point for criticism.

In the series, the actor who played James Bond previously takes on the role of Conrad Harrigan, a feared leader of an Irish crime family. However, some viewers found Brosnan’s accent surprising since he is originally from County Louth in Ireland.

Last month, I faced some criticism and cleared the air in an exclusive chat with TopMob. I confessed that the accent I adopted for the character was a world apart from my own self, and then I admitted I threw myself wholeheartedly into the Kerry accent.

Currently, the 72-year-old individual has expressed his thoughts on the matter once more. He confessed that he had some concerns and was encouraged by Ritchie to showcase a stronger connection to Ireland.

He shared with Variety that he’s having a blast with Conrad. He feels like he met him at just the right moment in his life. Last summer, director Guy Ritchie passed on five episodes to him. As he sat on the Lanai watching the chickens, he went through them.

I’m really fond of Guy Ritchie’s movies. They always get my heart racing! On a day when I enthusiastically agreed to something, we began discussing his character Conrad. I knew that he originates from an Irish lineage.

He told me, “Relax, don’t fret about it. Just forget about it for now. We’ll take care of it in 15 minutes when the time comes.” I replied, “Just to be clear, Guy. I can set it aside until then.” Of course, I didn’t manage to do that. Instead, I ended up worrying and preparing myself.

On that very same day, about five weeks later, I found myself alongside Guy, who suggested, “Embrace your Irish roots even more, be more Irish.” This remark was made during a scene involving Tom [Hardy].

In this scene, it was our initial collaboration, spanning over three pages. For you, it marked the beginning of your journey, and the mix of apprehension and thrill coursed through your body.

I strive for a Kerry dialect, as opposed to my gentle Irish brogue. You see, my father, Tom Brosnan, hailed from Kerry – unfortunately, I never met him.

I asked my dialect coach, Brendan Gunn, to help me adopt a Kerry accent. He obliged, and within about 20 minutes, I began speaking with an intense, somewhat wild Kerry accent, reminiscent of a local farmer in the region.

In the TV series MobLand, where Helen Mirren portrays Brosnan’s character’s wife Maeve, she too has come to his support.

She said: “Brilliantly, I have to say. A pig farmer who’s actually spent a lot of time in London.

London also has a piece of itself, as it’s home to a large Irish community. You’ll find numerous traditional Irish pubs and customs reminiscent of Ireland within the city.
