As a die-hard fan who has been following Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku since its inception ten years ago, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia and excitement at the news of the new manga. It feels like reuniting with old friends after a long time apart!
I’m beyond thrilled to share some fantastic news about one of my favorite romantic comedies, Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku! To mark its incredible 10-year journey since it first graced the pages of Comic Pool in 2015, publisher Ichijinsha has planned a special exhibition event and announced an even more exciting development – Fujita will be creating a brand-new manga for Wotakoi! I can hardly wait to see what new tales and charming illustrations await us in this milestone year.
According to announcements made on Wotakoi’s tenth-anniversary account on X and their official website, there will be a special exhibition for Wotakoi in Tokyo, Japan from March 11th to 24th, 2025 at the Matsuya Ginza. The event will showcase memorable moments from the series, display new colored illustrations, unveil never-before-seen manga manuscripts, and introduce a brand-new Wotakoi manga. Details about the new manga’s storyline have not been disclosed yet, but it is speculated that it may be a one-shot, spin-off, or collection of short stories.
This exhibition offers a retrospective look at the famous love stories of #Wotakoi, showcasing original manga drafts, color illustrations, and videos. Additionally, an exclusive Wotakoi manga piece by Fujiuta-sensei will be displayed to commemorate the event! Don’t miss out and come enjoy it at the exhibition site! #Wotakoi Exhibition

Wotakoi To Receive New Manga To Celebrate Ten Years of Serialization
Even though the manga of “Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” concluded with its eleventh volume in October 2021, it continues to captivate audiences far and wide. To date, it has sold over 12 million copies, a testament to its enduring popularity. As a series that delves into the intricate relationships of otakus, it resonates deeply with anime and manga enthusiasts across various age groups and genders.
Six years on, it’s hardly an overstatement to say that fans are still holding out hope for another season of this beloved anime. Despite the tenth anniversary not bringing much positive news about a second installment, the release of a new manga has sparked just as much excitement, particularly among those eager for more romantic escapades involving Narumi, Hirotaki, Koyanagi, and Kabakura after all these years.
In addition to a delightful new 10th-anniversary artwork showcasing Narumi and Hirotaka, the series’ creator, Fujita, has also shared some thoughts on this special moment. Here is what he had to say:
It appears it’s been about a decade since I sketched “Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku”. Can you tell me what type of otaku you were 10 years ago, and what you’re into now? To show my appreciation to all the otaku who have backed me throughout these years, I’ve created several characters from “Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” for the first time in a while! I look forward to seeing you again at Matsuya Ginza.
