Wreckfest 2 Early Access is Out Now on PC

The action-packed racing game, dubbed as “Wreckfest 2“, created by Developer Bugbear and published by THQ Nordic, is now accessible in its Early Access phase on PC platforms. You can secure your copy through Steam, where the Early Access launch was also unveiled, accompanied by a trailer that showcases what’s to come (which you can view below).

It’s evident from the trailer that Wreckfest 2 still has a lot to be finished before its release, as the developers have openly mentioned they will be focusing on learning from players’ feedback and fixing any bugs that arise as more time is spent with the game. Additionally, they have disclosed some of the innovative technology being utilized in the game, such as advanced physics for vehicle suspension, deformation, and driver interaction.

According to the trailer, Wreckfest 2 has just begun with a few initial tracks and vehicles, but the developers are relying on players to help them pinpoint any problems in the game before its official launch. They are also eagerly seeking player feedback for potential future updates that may enhance the gaming experience.

The studio expressed that they’re seeking your help and opinions to create an outstanding wrecking experience with the release of Wreckfest 2. They mentioned that the previous version, Wreckfest 1, thrived in Early Access due to the feedback and commitment of its community, so they’re eager to replicate that success!

The developers haven’t specified an exact launch date yet for Wreckfest 2 in its 1.0 version, but they anticipate that the Early Access phase could continue for a minimum of 12 months, subject to feedback and input from the gaming community.

In the realm of my enthusiasm, Wreckfest 2 offers an array of exciting experiences, including racing and demolition derby modes for both solo and multiplayer battles online. What sets it apart is the sandbox map, a creative playground where I can tinker with the physics and wreak havoc using the innovative new technologies that the game boasts.

1. The Scrapyard has two courses – a Circuit course filled with intersections and a Crazy course featuring head-on traffic.
2. The Speedway offers a Figure 8 Circuit and a Speedway Oval Circuit.
3. Lastly, the Derby Arena includes a remade Sandpit map, inspired by the original Wreckfest, plus a long Circuit route and its reverse version.

As a car enthusiast, I get to cruise through an array of maps and tracks in this game, piloting four distinctive vehicles: two sleek ’60s and ’70s American muscle cars, a scrappy ’80s EU compact hatchback, and a versatile ’90s US intermediate banger car. The gaming experience is further enriched with some fundamental customization features, such as personalizing my vehicles’ paint jobs, designing and saving my unique car setups in a garage, replaying my favorite races, and capturing memorable moments using the photo mode.

Initially available only for PC during Early Access, the developers have mentioned that they intend to bring Wreckfest 2 to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as well. Here’s the original trailer revealing the game from August 2024, where the enhanced physics engine was first displayed.
