As a long-time WWE fan with over two decades of watching wrestling under my belt, I must say that Sheamus’ journey is one that truly resonates with me. The Celtic Warrior has always been a fighter, and his resilience is unparalleled in the world of sports entertainment.
Sheamus is back on the shelf according to WWE.
Over the past weekend, Sheamus participated in a high-stakes triple-threat bout for the Intercontinental Championship owned by Bron Breakker. Ludwig Kaiser was among the contenders, and the three combatants relentlessly unleashed their moves against each other. This intense struggle resulted in Sheamus sustaining a fractured rib. Cathy Kelly delivered this update during a backstage interview with Breakker, discussing his upcoming title defense.
After the triple-threat fight, Sheamus posted a video on social media highlighting his injuries, such as cuts on his upper back, arms, and ribs. Breakker had speared him through a chair, while Kaiser kept attacking him with his Shileleigh. Breakker retained the title by pinning Sheamus, leaving this championship as the only one Sheamus hasn’t won in WWE yet. Despite his 15-year career and numerous achievements, this particular title is the one that prevents him from being labeled a Grand Slam Champion.
In the middle of Breakker’s interview, Kaiser interrupted to remind viewers that Sheamus had caused him a cracked rib earlier, so he was settling the score. Meanwhile, Kaiser was heading to discuss a one-on-one match with Adam Pearce. They’ve clashed twice before, but both encounters ended in disqualifications.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been thrilled to have the Celtic Warrior back in action this year after eight long months on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury. Since his triumphant return, he’s been a consistent force on Monday Night Raw, squaring off against heavyweights like Drew McIntyre, the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, Kaiser, and Breakker.
It’s not just Sheamus who exited Survivor Series with an injury; Jey Uso and Bronson Reed, both participants in the WarGames main event, are also sidelined. Yet, it doesn’t appear to be hindering WWE as they approach the final leg of WWE Raw on the USA Network. In January, the brand will transition to Netflix, and a number of notable WWE figures have already confirmed their attendance. Among them are Bianca Belair, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and John Cena.
Breakker has been the Intercontinental Champion since he triumphed over Jey Uso in October on WWE Raw. Earlier, he had claimed this title at WWE SummerSlam in August. This victory marked his debut win of a main roster singles title and his third championship title from WWE. However, he lost it not long after due to his arrogance, which Uso reminded him of during their subsequent encounter.
