WWE Bash in Berlin: Kevin Owens’s Wild World Title Drought Continues

WWE Bash in Berlin: Kevin Owens's Wild World Title Drought Continues

As a long-time WWE fan who’s witnessed the highs and lows of Kevin Owens’ career, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for the Prizefighter. KO’s world title losing streak has become a tale as old as time in the WWE universe. It’s like watching a classic tragic romance where the hero always falls just short of his dreams.

At the WWE Bash in Berlin, Kevin Owens aimed for his first world title since more than seven years ago. In the initial three years of his career with WWE, the Prizefighter was almost always adorned with championship belts. He won the NXT Championship just two months after his debut, followed by the WWE Intercontinental Title two months later when he relinquished the NXT belt, then the WWE Universal Championship four months following the end of his Intercontinental title reign, and finally, the WWE United States Championship two months after that. However, since he lost the WWE United States Title in summer 2017, Owens hasn’t secured a singles title again.

Despite numerous opportunities, Owens hasn’t managed to win the WWE Title or the WWE Universal Championship, which are both considered WWE’s world titles, in nine attempts so far. Each time, he’s come up short.

The world title drought for Kevin Owens has added another chapter.

At the beginning of the WWE Bash in Berlin matchup, Kevin Owens unfortunately lost against WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Despite having several chances to capitalize on Rhodes’ injured knee, Owens held back from making a decisive move.
