Roxanne Perez has solidified her reign as WWE NXT Women’s Champion since winning at Stand & Deliver, and she’s poised to build on that success at NXT No Mercy against rising star Jaida Parker. A victory for Perez will further bolster her impressive record, catching the attention of WWE legends like Bayley, who has praised Perez and drawn comparisons to revered figures such as Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. Recently, Perez has been a subject of discussion, with comments from Bayley along with some back-and-forth opinions between Bully Ray and Booker T also mentioning her. In simpler terms, Perez stated, “You understand, I usually view things with a bit of skepticism, especially when it comes to criticism and negativity. Since I started this journey around 10 years ago, I believe I’ve not only secured my position as the NXT Women’s Champion but also proven myself to be a prodigy in the field. After putting in 10 years of hard work, it’s only natural that at the age of 22, I am receiving such positive recognition.”
When it comes to being compared to Mysterio and Guerrero, Perez doesn’t brush off such compliments casually. In fact, he found it astonishing when Bailey made such comparisons, likening him to Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, individuals whom Perez admired greatly as a young fan, recognizing their legendary status. To be mentioned alongside these names is mind-boggling to him, truly. He doesn’t take that compliment lightly; it’s quite an honor for him. It’s really exciting.
In an interview with Joey Karni on The Angle Podcast (credit to Fightful), Bayley had nothing but praise for Roxanne Perez. She described Perez as a current standout, stating that among the NXT women’s champions, Perez might be one of the best or even the very best. As a former NXT Women’s Champion herself, this is high praise indeed. Bayley also expressed excitement about Perez joining the roster, as she believes Perez is exceptional in the ring, displaying a unique blend of agility, similar to Rey Mysterio, and technical skill, reminiscent of Eddie Guerrero. In essence, Perez has the ability to perform a wide range of moves with precision.
