WWE NXT’s Roxanne Perez Talks All-Time Status, No Mercy, and Jaida Parker’s Champion Potential

WWE NXT's Roxanne Perez Talks All-Time Status, No Mercy, and Jaida Parker's Champion Potential

As a seasoned wrestling fan who has witnessed the evolution of NXT, I can confidently say that the upcoming No Mercy event is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling shows yet! Roxanne Perez, the current NXT Women’s Champion, is set to defend her title against Jaida Parker, a rising star who has captured the hearts of many in a short span.

Roxanne Perez marked the start of her era at Stand & Deliver, since then she’s been striving to make her title reign one of the greatest ever recorded. At No Mercy, she’ll face off against rising star Jaida Parker for her Title, and while Perez acknowledges Parker’s promising future, she believes that victory isn’t in Parker’s grasp quite yet. ComicBook recently spoke with Perez prior to their encounter at No Mercy, discussing Parker’s championship potential and Perez’s own impact on NXT history, a legacy she feels has already earned her a place within its pages.

Future Champion Jaida Parker

Initially, we wanted to discuss Parker, who has swiftly emerged as one of NXT’s most promising talents. In the No Mercy Gauntlet Elimination match against Sol Ruca, Wren Sinclair, Kendal Grey, Adriana Rizzo, and Brinley Reece, she was the sole survivor, a remarkable accomplishment. When inquired about her progress and potential for a title, Perez foresees a bright future for Parker; however, it seems that a Women’s Championship isn’t on the horizon for her at this moment.

“Indeed, she is quite formidable. It’s astonishing to see how she’s risen from being new here less than a year ago, to now vying for my NXT Women’s Championship,” Perez remarked. “In fact, I was in a class with her when she first arrived, and she was just beginning to find her rhythm. I recall her asking me numerous questions and seeing the determination in her eyes. Fast-forward a year, and we are set to meet. She certainly has the potential to be a champion. She exudes charisma, she’s got the appearance, she’s almost there. However, it’s clear that she’s not a natural prodigy, and her time hasn’t come yet. As long as I hold onto this title, her time isn’t here just yet, I’m sorry Jada.”

A Dominant Champion

In our last chat with Perez, she shared her ambition of becoming a dominant NXT Women’s Champion before leaving NXT, as her initial title reign was unfortunately cut short. I asked if she thought she’d accomplished that goal, and Perez confidently stated that she’s put in the hard work to make her NXT title run a part of the history books.

“Certainly, and I believe I’ve made a significant mark now. It feels like I haven’t fully demonstrated my abilities during my initial reign as NXT Women’s Champion. To be honest, I wasn’t as confident as I should have been at that time because it was soon after I signed with the company, and the pressure of being here so quickly was immense. However, I no longer feel that pressure, and I believe I’m now getting the opportunity to showcase my skills. The matches I’ve been putting on for NXT are among the best we’ve seen, and I think this has solidified my place as one of the greatest NXT Women’s Champions ever.”
