As a seasoned gamer of wrestling lore, I’ve witnessed countless battles that have shaped the annals of sports entertainment history. The impending Hell in a Cell match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre at WWE Bad Blood is undoubtedly one such bout. The rivalry between these two titans has been nothing short of brutal, personal, and downright captivating.
Tonight on WWE Monday Night Raw, CM Punk made a comeback after Drew McIntyre attacked him, took his bracelet, and left him needing an ambulance. It has now been confirmed that their long-standing feud will culminate in a Hell in a Cell match at WWE Bad Blood. Over the past few months, this rivalry has grown increasingly brutal and personal, but with Punk recovering from injury, he’s determined to end this conflict and ensure McIntyre is a thing of the past.
In a recent chat, Punk discussed his remaining matches, stating that despite his aging body, he has no intentions of retiring yet. This news might irritate his critics but delight his supporters. Regarding Hell in a Cell matches specifically, he feels he doesn’t have much energy left. Yet, this is exactly what excites him about the prospect. He admits his initial assumption that the feud would end after touching all four ring corners was misguided, and things should have concluded when McIntyre hospitalized him for a second time.
In a direct address to the camera, Punk asserts, “I’ve made my peace; I’m ready to give up my life. This might be the final chapter for me, and if it is, so be it. I’ve had an incredible journey, and I’m prepared for this to mark the end of CM Punk. If you’re willing to witness this as the conclusion of Drew McIntyre… then we’ll meet again in the afterlife.
In terms of their experience within the steel cage, both Punk and McIntyre have a past, but it’s worth noting that Punk has emerged victorious in two out of his five encounters compared to McIntyre who hasn’t won any. Punk’s victories were against Ryback in 2012 and Ryback/Paul Heyman in 2013. Conversely, McIntyre has lost all his two Hell in a Cell matches – the first one was against Randy Orton in 2020 where Orton claimed the WWE Championship, and the second one was against Bobby Lashley in 2021.
