WWE Raw Confirms Netflix Premiere Date (And Major Stars for Debut)

As a die-hard WWE fan with over three decades of wrestling fandom under my belt, this move to Netflix feels like the ultimate dream come true! I remember watching Monday Night Raw when it first debuted on USA Network back in 1993, and now here we are, fast forwarding to 2025, where Raw is set to stream on the same platform as Stranger Things and The Witcher.

The shift of “WWE Monday Night Raw” to Netflix is imminent, and it’s likely that some major personalities will grace the premiere. For years, “WWE Raw” has been synonymous with USA Network as its home, but come January 6, 2025, this flagship program will find a new home on Netflix. WWE officially confirmed that “Raw” will debut on Netflix at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET on January 6, 2025. The announcement was made jointly by WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Travis Scott during Scott’s concert at ComplexCon in Las Vegas. This groundbreaking event will take place at L.A.’s Intuit Dome.

Apart from the Netflix move announcement, WWE also revealed some exciting details about their first Monday Night Raw show on Netflix. John Cena, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Bianca Belair have been confirmed to appear in this show. Additionally, a host of other Superstars and surprise guests will be joining them. While we don’t know exactly who these other participants are, it’s reasonable to expect some WWE Hall of Famers might make an appearance as well.

WWE inks streaming deal with Netflix for Monday Night Raw

Previously this year, it was announced that WWE and Netflix had signed a 10-year, $5 billion deal for the streaming of Raw. This means that WWE Raw will be available to stream on Netflix within the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Latin America. This marks the first time since its debut over 31 years ago on USA Network that Raw won’t air on linear television. In the U.S., WWE’s premium live events (PLEs) and other specials will continue to be shown on Peacock, while international territories will move to Netflix for viewing these projects along with SmackDown and NXT. PLEs include what were previously known as pay-per-view events such as WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, and Survivor Series.

Mark Shapiro, TKO President and COO, stated that this agreement is groundbreaking. It combines the unmissable WWE content with Netflix’s incredible global distribution network, ensuring substantial and stable income for years to come. This collaboration fundamentally reshapes and bolsters the media landscape, greatly increases the visibility of WWE, and brings weekly live viewing events to Netflix.

Netflix Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, expressed her enthusiasm about bringing WWE’s immensely popular and passionate multigenerational fan base show, “Raw,” to Netflix. By teaming up our vast reach, recommendation system, and shared fandom with WWE, we aim to offer more pleasure and worth to both their viewers and our members. “Raw” embodies the peak of sports entertainment, merging compelling characters, engaging storytelling, and live action every week of the year. We’re delighted to be a part of this long-term partnership with WWE.

Netflix is making a significant stride by expanding its live programming, especially in the realm of live sports. Over the weekend, the highly-anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson took place, with Paul emerging as the winner. In the near future, Netflix plans to add weekly wrestling events to its lineup for its rapidly increasing subscribers.
