WWE Raw kicked off with Seth Rollins, the Revolutionary, and Gunther, the Ring Commander, but their segment was disrupted by the return of Logan Paul, also known as Maverick. Despite being absent for several months, he didn’t lose any of his audience’s disapproval. As a full-time WWE member on the Raw brand, Paul made his entrance to thunderous boos, but the discontent only grew louder. The booing was so intense at times that it rivaled Dominik Mysterio’s notorious reception, making it difficult for Paul to be heard. The crowd’s disapproval persisted throughout his appearance, drawing comparisons to Hulk Hogan’s infamous negative reaction on WWE Raw. So, which booing incident was more severe?
During Paul’s tenure in WWE, he’s been no stranger to boos, but the recent outpouring was something unexpected, particularly when he attempted to speak through the microphone. The crescendo only grew louder as Paul struggled to be heard over them, and both Rollins and Gunther found amusement in the audience’s response.
In terms of comparison to Hogan’s moment, while it undeniably came close, generating a significant amount of competition, the degree of boos during the Hogan segment is likely going to be challenging to surpass. Moreover, Paul, at this stage, has solidified himself as an unquestionable antagonist, and he played up that role during the segment. In contrast, Hogan was not portrayed as a villain during his segment, which added to the discomfort.

In reference to Paul’s remarks, he criticized Rollins and Gunther, labeling them as ‘foolish’ along with other disparaging comments. He boasted about constructing his career more swiftly than both of them. Additionally, he mentioned his strategy was to work intelligently rather than exhaustively for his Royal Rumble entrance. If he won, he faced a significant choice.
During the discussion following Paul’s victory in the Rumble, both Gunther and Cody Rhodes were mentioned as possible adversaries. This is when Gunther stepped into the conversation. Earlier in that segment, Gunther had expressed to Rollins that he wanted him to win the Rumble so they could fight at WrestleMania. However, once Paul began speaking, Gunther altered his plans.
Gunther expressed his hope that Paul would emerge victorious in the Rumble, merely so he could wipe away Paul’s smug grin. Rollins chuckled and promised to regain the title once he won, exiting the ring, leaving Paul and Gunther engaged in a heated verbal exchange as the segment drew to a close.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about Paul’s WWE Raw debut on Netflix! Feel free to discuss all things wrestling with me on Bluesky @knightofoa.
