WWE Raw Preview: CM Punk Returns, Judgment Day Civil War, Title Match

As a seasoned WWE gamer with decades of wrestling lore etched into my memory banks, I can hardly contain my excitement for this week’s Monday Night Raw. The return of CM Punk, the Judgment Day civil war, and the World Tag Titles being up for grabs – it’s a veritable smorgasbord of WWE action!

The main show of WWE is steadily moving towards a well-known high-priced live event. After WWE Bash in Berlin, there’s been a lot of anticipation among the cast of WWE Monday Night Raw about WWE Bad Blood, a name that has been revived for a WWE Premium Live Event for the first time since 2004. WWE Bad Blood is renowned for hosting the very first Hell in a Cell Match in 1997 between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Notable headline bouts from the subsequent events also took place within this ‘devil’s playground’, including matches between Triple H and Kevin Nash (2003) and Triple H and Shawn Michaels (2004). Similarly, the upcoming WWE Bad Blood in 2024 will see CM Punk and Drew McIntyre settle their long-standing feud within the confines of the Hell in a Cell structure.

CM Punk Returns to WWE Raw

The Second City Saint will give his thoughts on that third and final barbaric stipulation.

Following the two-week encounter where Drew McIntyre struck him, CM Punk is set to reappear on WWE Monday Night Raw. This marks Punk’s first return since the announcement that he and McIntyre would fight within the Hell in a Cell structure at WWE Bad Blood.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and trepidation as I prepare for Punk’s fifth Hell in a Cell Match. With a record of 1-3 within this brutal structure, he’s faced some tough challenges. He lost to The Undertaker back in 2009, four untelevised opponents in 2011, and Alberto Del Rio the same year. His only win came against Ryback in 2012, but even that triumph was tainted as it was due to a biased referee. So far, Punk hasn’t managed a fair, decisive victory within this cage – here’s hoping he changes that this time around!

The Judgment Day Civil War Continues

The red brand’s resident faction continues to do battle with the spoils of war.

At the WWE SummerSlam event held in August, Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor betrayed Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest within The Judgment Day faction, leading the charge against their former allies. Their initial confrontation took place at WWE Bash in Berlin, where Ripley, Priest, and Liv Morgan’s Women’s World Champion title managed to overcome Dominik.

Tonight, Dominik and Priest face off in a singles match.

WWE World Tag Titles Are Up For Grabs

The Judgment Day’s battles tonight will be a war on two fronts.

In another part of the group, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh are set to protect their WWE World Tag Team Titles against Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods from The New Day. This is the initial television defense for these champions since they won the titles back in June.

WWE Monday Night Raw airs at 8 PM ET on USA Network. You can check out the full lineup below…
