WWE Reveals Bray Wyatt's Final Fiend Design is Coming to WWE 2K24

As a seasoned gamer and ardent WWE fan, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of admiration for the creative team behind WWE 2K24. The way they’ve managed to bring Bray Wyatt’s final masterpiece, The Fiend, to life in the game is nothing short of incredible. It’s as if they’ve captured the essence of Wyatt’s spirit and talent, immortalizing it for generations of fans to enjoy.

WWE 2K has been hinting at an upcoming announcement all day, with October 16th as the revealed date. However, the fonts and emojis they used suggested it had something to do with the Wyatt Family or Bray Wyatt specifically. Tonight on SmackDown 2K, they unveiled a complete trailer for this enigmatic teaser, and it turned out to be an incredible new rendition of The Fiend, inspired by the Bray Wyatt: Becoming Immortal documentary. Fans can expect to download the new appearance for The Fiend very soon, and you can watch how well the look translates into the game in the video below.

Clearly shown in the video unveiling, 2K spared no effort to bring Wyatt’s final collaboration with long-term partner Jason Baker on this project to fruition within the game. The Fiend’s costume design was Wyatt’s last piece of work before his passing and was highlighted in the Becoming Immortal documentary, offering fans a glimpse into the intricate process behind its creation.

Hidden Meanings

In Baker’s words, “We crafted a 3D model of Windham. The mask was previously approved by him. Interestingly, the jacket we used for this project was one he had bought himself. His parents sent it to us. Windham had a fondness for subtle details, or ‘Easter eggs.’ When we created the initial lantern, you might notice that the eyes appear to be stitches, but they’re actually the Roman numerals of Nash’s son’s birthday. We continued this tradition in our work.

The pinstripe design, with its intriguing duality that invites repeated glances to reveal hidden details. The stitches, cleverly disguised as Roman numerals, represent the anniversary date of what would have been its creator’s wedding day – December 6. Here you see ‘XII’, and there, ‘VI’.

One of the most significant acknowledgments emerged from the design of the mask displayed at the back, which bore a resemblance to Windham’s wife Jojo and has also been incorporated into the video game.

In his own words, Baker explained that an innovative concept they considered was replacing the spider walk with a move where Windham could lean forward, causing his hair to flutter up, revealing a second mask concealed beneath it. This second mask would have a grotesque appearance on the front, while the back would showcase a stunning likeness of Jojo. They achieved this by 3D scanning Jojo’s face and creating a replica, which they then sculpted. As an additional tribute to Jojo, who was affectionately known as Mockingbird by Windham, they added mockingbirds to the design.

It’s deeply sad that this is the final project I get to collaborate on with my dearest friend in our creative endeavors, but I am exceptionally proud of my team and everyone who contributed to making it a reality. The pain is most intense because I never had the chance to express how much he meant to me. Working with him always felt like spending quality time with my best friend, not work, as I often missed that camaraderie. If I can share this project with his fans, who were the world to him, then a part of him will live on. So, if I can help my friend continue in some way or form, I’ll find peace in that.
