WWE Reveals New Women’s Championship on SmackDown

WWE Reveals New Women’s Championship on SmackDown

As a long-time fan of WWE who’s seen the Women’s Division grow from strength to strength, I can’t contain my excitement about the introduction of the new Women’s United States Championship! It’s high time our fantastic ladies had another title to fight for, and this one looks every bit as prestigious as its male counterparts.

For a considerable period, there’s been anticipation for an extra Women’s title in WWE, given that the Women’s main roster only offers two titles to fight over, while the Men’s division boasts four. Fans have longed for another Women’s belt, similar to the United States Championship or Intercontinental Championship (as seen in NXT), and that wish has finally been granted. Tonight on SmackDown, WWE unveiled the new Women’s United States Championship – you can take a look at it right here.

On SmackDown, Nick Aldis presented the latest Championship, expressing, “Our team is filled with elite athletes who strive for greatness, aiming to create an enduring legacy.” It was then that he revealed the new Championship, which carries the same design as the contemporary United States Championship, adorned with white details.

Subsequently, Aldis declared, “This Championship isn’t going to be given; it will be earned by whoever is prepared to exceed expectations and grab the opportunity. Ladies, the chance is here, and it’s time to respond and create history.” Michael Cole and Corey Graves then pointed out that the Title could belong to either Raw or SmackDown.

The method for determining the initial champion hasn’t been disclosed by Aldis, but his remarks suggesting it’s earned seem to imply a tournament. This format could accommodate both Raw and SmackDown, as the tournament could switch between shows and climax in a significant showdown. Given the timing, WWE could organize numerous qualifying matches leading up to a final confrontation at Survivor Series, if they decide against crowning the new champion on either Raw or SmackDown.

This immediately provides the Women’s team with a crucial plot element for narrative development, as well as an opportunity to elevate another star within their ranks. LA Knight has been captivating audiences through his series of exhilarating matches while defending his US Title, and Bron Breakker and Jey Uso have been engaged in a fierce rivalry over the Intercontinental Title. Now, a Women’s superstar can join this trend with the introduction of the new Championship, and there are several promising candidates to become the first-ever champion.

Notable figures such as Michin, Chelsea Green, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, Natalya, Naomi, and others could effortlessly assume that position, receiving a significant enhancement from defending the Championship. The question remains: who will be the inaugural bearer of the fresh Title gold? Time will tell.

It’s expected that more updates will come regarding next week’s episode of Raw. However, if the title turns out to be associated with SmackDown, it might be announced next Friday instead. Generally speaking, the title is likely to appear on Raw, as there are three hours to fill when the show streams on Netflix, and only one US Title is currently on SmackDown. But remember, plans can change, so we’ll simply have to keep watching for developments.
