WWE Says Farewell to FOX Era on SmackDown

WWE Says Farewell to FOX Era on SmackDown

As a gamer who’s been following WWE since the Attitude Era, this SmackDown move feels like a homecoming after a long and exciting five-year journey with FOX. The memories we’ve made together, from Roman Reigns’ triumphs to Bayley’s transformations, are etched deep in my memory banks.

Tonight signified the conclusion of a five-year chapter for WWE SmackDown on Fox, as it moves to its former home on USA Network next week. Over the coming months, WWE will be making several programming changes. Essentially, SmackDown is returning to where it once was, having shifted to Fox in 2019. The show paid tribute to its time with Fox, and some superstars expressed their thoughts during this emotional goodbye.

A Thrilling Five Years

WWE Says Farewell to FOX Era on SmackDown

2019 saw WWE in a distinctly different state, both within and outside its organization; however, this didn’t impede WWE from securing a significant $205 million yearly deal with FOX. To celebrate their five-year partnership, WWE compiled a video highlighting some of the most memorable moments, featuring The Rock’s iconic interaction with Becky Lynch (The Man), King Corbin, Roman Reigns’ numerous victories, and the turbulent journey of The Bloodline saga’s early phases.

Some significant events that stood out were Bayley transforming into a villain (heel turn) and assaulting her fan club (Bayley Buddies), plus her Ding Dong Hello program. We also witnessed Gunther becoming the Intercontinental Champion, Charlotte Flair’s shocking Title victory, the reunion of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, and more recent occurrences such as Cody Rhodes’ title celebration, Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair joining forces, and the ascension of LA Knight.

Thank You

As a devoted WWE fan, I’m thrilled to share that the official WWE on FOX Twitter account expressed their gratitude to us, the fans, by posting a heartfelt thank you along with a photo honoring Roman Reigns. The image, which you can see right here, carries the message “Thank You! Then. Now, Forever. Together.” This touching sentiment underscores the unbreakable bond we share as WWE fans.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but point out an intriguing observation made by @TannyWrestling – both the inaugural episode of SmackDown on FOX and this grand finale featured Bayley. At the outset of this era, Bayley was embodying her ‘Hugger’ persona, and over time she evolved into the Role Model, delivering an exceptional heel run that left us all speechless.

Currently, she’s returning to her babyface persona following a prosperous reign as Women’s Champion, and she secured a significant victory against Tiffany Stratton in tonight’s bout. Hayley took time to reflect on the past five years and express gratitude towards SmackDown on FOX via Twitter, stating, “Thank you #Smackdown on Fox! It’s been an incredible 5 years!

Starting tonight, WWE SmackDown kicks off a fresh chapter on USA Network, and we’re excitedly anticipating the unfolding events. With the past five years as a reference, it seems we’re set to witness a series of incredible moments moving forward.
