WWE Star Encouraged Nic Nemeth to Join TNA

As a long-time fan of professional wrestling, I’ve been following Nic Nemeth‘s career with great interest since his days as Dolph Ziggler in WWE. So it was with immense excitement that I learned of his recent signing with TNA (Total Nonstop Action). Having watched him compete for various independents and major promotions like New Japan Pro Wrestling over the past year, I’ve come to appreciate his versatility and dedication to the sport.

Nic Nemeth joined TNA (Total Nonstop Action) in early 2025 after leaving WWE at the end of 2023. Since then, he’s been working for various independent wrestling promotions and major leagues like New Japan Pro Wrestling. However, TNA has become his primary destination. At TNA Hard to Kill in January, Nemeth made an appearance, challenging TNA World Champion Moose and connecting with fans by wearing a TNA shirt. Although he doesn’t have a long-term contract with TNA yet, Nemeth intends to dedicate his immediate future to the company.

Getting to this point was not easy for The Wanted Man.

In an interview with ComicBook before the TNA Slammiversary event, Nic Nemeth shared that he found it difficult to make a quick decision to join a new company after spending almost twenty years consecutively in one location.

On my first day away from WWE, Scott D’Amore expressed eagerness to bring me on board, as quoted by Nemeth. I responded, “I’m not ready for a long-term commitment yet. I’ve just come out of a lengthy relationship and don’t wish to jump into another engagement.” The roster members reached out to me, extolling the virtues of this organization and revealing its intricately laid plans. They possessed the resources, intelligence, and most pieces needed, but they might still be lacking a few unique elements that could make it truly exceptional.

“I really enjoy that, but my current commitment keeps me from making a decision. I’ve been with the same company for 19 years straight and I’m apprehensive about leaving, as I might end up feeling trapped again. I suggested we could try going out on dates or even spend some time together for a few months or a year before making any long-term commitment. I don’t want to be tied down without the flexibility to explore and see if it’s a good fit for both of us.”

Outside of TNA, individuals encouraged Nemeth to join: His ex-WWE tag team companion Bobby Roode, who had a long tenure with TNA and frequently represented the company’s public image, spoke with him during a pivotal moment in his career.

“Initially, I consulted Bobby above all others,” Nemeth explained. “We’re part of a group chat where we exchange around 600 messages daily. Our conversation went like this: ‘Should we take this path?’ I sought advice from Kaz (Frankie Kazarian), Roode, and other independents, as well as some unnamed individuals. They encouraged me, saying, ‘You should give it a try. Study their roster and their behind-the-scenes work. Their long-term planning for storytelling is impressive. Joining them could lead to something truly extraordinary.'”

Nemeth’s hesitations were alleviated almost immediately.

Upon arriving, I was utterly taken aback, I must admit. Witnessing the preparation of the shows, observing the performers hone their skills, and noticing the eager newcomers joining established stars on Xplosion was a breathtaking sight. The hunger and passion of the young talent intermingled with the experience and finesse of the main event players created an electrifying atmosphere. Long-term storylines were taking shape before my very eyes, weaving together a captivating narrative. I can only hope to contribute in some way to this magnificent tapestry.
