WWE Superstar Liv Morgan’s Big Time Movie Role Revealed

According to recent updates, it appears that WWE Superstar Liv Morgan, also known as Gionna Daddio, has been cast in a major upcoming movie role. The project in question turns out to be Neon’s film titled Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, directed by Takashi Miike, who is renowned for directing Audition and 13 Assassins. Liv Morgan will be sharing the screen with Shun Oguri (Godzilla v. Kong, No Longer Human) and Lily James (Pam and Tommy, Yesterday). Production for this exciting project is scheduled to commence in May.

As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share my insights on an upcoming project that’s stirring quite a buzz – “Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo.” This film is penned by the talented Daisuke Tengan, whose work on “Audition” and “13 Assassins” has left an indelible mark in cinema. It’s rooted in the esteemed “Bad Lieutenant” franchise, initiated by Abel Ferrara’s 1992 masterpiece featuring Harvey Keitel. A subsequent version emerged in 2009 under Werner Herzog’s direction, starring Nicolas Cage and titled “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans.” Now, we’re on the brink of another installment, with director Takeshi Miike gathering his team right here in Tokyo to kickstart production. Buckle up, folks; it’s going to be a wild ride!

An exceptional group of actors and crew have assembled in Tokyo. Here comes the pitch, straight and true – nothing fancy, no surprises. I believe this team is poised to shatter all boundaries and deliver an extraordinary show. Join us on this incredible journey.” (Miike)

In “Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo,” we’ll delve into the story of a morally bankrupt cop and compulsive gambler named Oguri, who serves within the Metropolitan Police Force. His life becomes entwined with a baffling case when an enigmatic FBI agent, James, enters Tokyo to probe the mysterious disappearance of a high-ranking politician’s daughter, portrayed by Morgan. Simultaneously, it appears that a sinister yakuza assassin, lurking in the underworld, is mirroring their actions.

As a cinephile, I can’t help but be thrilled by Neon’s recent triumph with Sean Baker’s masterpiece, Anora, which swept five Oscars – Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, among others. With such a stellar success under its belt, I eagerly anticipate the upcoming releases from Neon, including Sentimental Value, Alpha, Orwell, and Splitsville. On top of that, Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo is set to grace North American theaters and will be representing international sales rights at Cannes. What a time to be a movie lover!

At present, Morgan, together with Raquel Rodriguez, holds one of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. However, on this week’s Monday Night Raw, it was disclosed that Morgan needs a break for a movie commitment. The duration of her absence from WWE TV is uncertain, but it doesn’t appear to be long enough to necessitate relinquishing the Titles at this point. No tournament has been announced, so it seems that Morgan and Rodriguez will continue holding the titles until Morgan is ready for a full-time return.
