WWE Superstars Confirm and Address Shocking Releases

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of wrestling fandom under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia as I read about these departures. Indi Hartwell, Tegan Nox, and Baron Corbin are parting ways with WWE, and while it’s always bittersweet to see talent leave the roster, I’m eagerly awaiting their next moves.

Three WWE superstars will soon be departing the company, a revelation that caught many by surprise, including some of those affected by the releases. Fightful Select is reporting that Indi Hartwell, Tegan Nox, and Baron Corbin are set to depart from WWE, which means that Nox and Hartwell will be free agents in 90 days. In Corbin’s case, his contract is not being extended, so once his contract is officially complete (which is speculated to be around the end of the year) he will be free to go wherever he wants. All three superstars have since confirmed and addressed their release, and you can find those below. We wish all three all the best, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.

Baron Corbin

Corbin announced his departure on platform X, using a SmackDown entrance graphic as his caption, saying “That’s a wrap folks. It’s been great and I thank everyone who stood by me.” Lately, Corbin has made occasional appearances on SmackDown, even teaming up briefly with Apollo Crews. This came after Corbin’s impressive stint in NXT, where he started off as a powerful villain but ended up being well-liked due to an unexpected and enjoyable Tag Team collaboration with Bron Breakker.

Indi Hartwell

Hartwell has also touched upon topic X. In his tweet, Hartwell wrote, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Hartwell has recently been seen on SmackDown, offering support to her longtime friend and ally, Candice LeRae. The duo reunited when Hartwell was moved to Monday Night Raw, and following an injury recovery, they continued their Tag Team collaboration.

LeRae recently won the WWE Speed Women’s Championship and then started appearing on SmackDown last week in a storyline with Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton. Hartwell appeared in that segment and during the match, but then Hartwell was featured on tonight’s taped SmackDown as well. In the show Hartwell and LeRae had a match against Bayley and Naomi as part of that Jax and Stratton storyline, so it’s definitely surprising to see her released the very same day as she’s wrestling on WWE TV.

Tegan Nox

In response to the announcement, Nox tweeted, “Sometimes events are beyond our grasp, but we do our best. Let me clarify this: I’m prepared and have always been. All I need is a chance to demonstrate what was overlooked.

Previously, Nox was prominently showcased on Monday Night Raw approximately a year ago, when she challenged Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Championship. Originally scheduled for a bout a week prior, the match had to be rescheduled due to an injury sustained by Lynch. However, even with the delay, their fight proved to be exciting and memorable.

Lynch will keep her title, while Nox has shared a message about the match and what’s to come: “I gave it my all for you tonight… Thank you @BeckyLynchWWE, but I’m not done fighting yet.” However, Nox hasn’t appeared much on TV or wrestled in any dark matches during the past half year.

For the non-competes, Nox and Harwell will be free to head elsewhere in February of 2025.

We wish everyone the best and hope they are back to killing it in the ring soon.
