As a seasoned gamer who’s navigated through the chaotic world of WWE for decades now, I must say that tonight’s SmackDown was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! The DIY tag team, my longtime favorites, managed to recapture the Tag Team Championships in an unexpected twist. But the road to glory wasn’t smooth sailing; they had a brief hiccup, which had fans questioning their unity.
Tonight on WWE SmackDown, there were some exciting surprises in store, and one of the biggest involved two popular Superstars – DIY’s duo, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. Lately, things haven’t been going so well for them, but their struggles reached a climax during an unexpected match against the Motor City Machine Guns for the WWE Tag Team Championships. At one point, it seemed like Gargano and Ciampa were about to separate, but this was just part of a clever strategy. Soon after, Gargano turned villainous and delivered the decisive blow to secure their championship victory. The two have reconciled, and they are now the Tag Team Champions once more.
Leading up to SmackDown, the scheduled contest was a Tag Team Championship bout between the Motor City Machine Guns and the Street Profits. However, their match was disrupted when the Street Profits were assaulted backstage, leaving them incapacitated and unable to compete. The perpetrator behind this attack remains unknown.
While Nick Aldis was handling this new situation, he was planning on scrapping the Title fight. However, Gargano approached him and suggested that DIY could step in and make the contest happen. At first, Aldis dismissed the idea, but then MCMG proposed if they truly wanted the match, it could be theirs. Reluctantly, Aldis agreed, and the event unfolded as planned. But it wasn’t long before things went south for DIY in the ring.
During certain periods of the match, DIY appeared to be in command, but later on, there was a mix-up resulting in Ciampa unintentionally kicking Gargano in the face with a powerful kick that sent him tumbling off the ring. Infuriated by this incident, Ciampa labeled Gargano as foolish and redirected his focus to Alex Shelley without any apparent worry about his tag team partner.
Gargano re-entered the fray, evidently tired of Ciampa, instructing him to vacate the ring and depart while he battled Chris Sabin. As requested, Ciampa complied and declared it was over as he exited, but what followed wasn’t the expected end to their alliance. Instead, DIY continued on.
In a surprising turn of events, Sabin aimed to wrap up the match by executing MCMG’s finishing move, but Gargano caught everyone off guard by striking Sabin with a sneaky low blow while the referee was attending to Ciampa on the opposite side of the ring. Flabbergasted, Shelley confronted Gargano, only for Gargano to retaliate with a powerful superkick and tag in Ciampa. With that, Ciampa followed up with the finishing move and secured the victory, making Gargano and Ciampa the new WWE Tag Team Champions again.
Moving forward, it’s clear that there may be problems with the Motor City Machine Guns due to their close relationship with Gargano. On top of this, the Street Profits will likely seek payback for an earlier altercation between them and Gargano & Ciampa. It appears that it was these two who took out the Street Profits to secure their opportunity in the first place, so they’ll surely want revenge once they’re allowed to return to action.
