Enthusiasts can hardly wait for WWE Superstar Alexa Bliss to get back into the ring, but she’s been quite active during her absence, and her latest endeavor is available for streaming on Netflix. Known as Lexi Cabrera off-screen, Bliss lends her voice to the English Dub cast in Netflix’s new manga adaptation Sakamoto Days, where she portrays Obiguro (as reported by Anime News Network). Excitingly, the initial episodes of this series are available now on Netflix, and you can catch a sneak peek of the trailer in the video above.
Sakamoto Days is adapted from Yuuto Suzuki’s original manga, centering on Taro Sakamoto, a man who now operates a thriving local store and has an unblemished reputation for non-violence. However, his past as a renowned assassin who left that world to start a family is hidden. When his family and peaceful life are endangered, Sakamoto must re-enter his old ways to protect them. But his wife sets a strict rule: he must not kill anyone or risk losing her forever.
Bliss often takes on the character of Obiguro, one of Dondenkai Agency’s most formidable assassins, who works closely with her partner, Boiled. Obiguro is driven by the excitement of combat and can sometimes make unpredictable choices due to this thrill-seeking nature. In addition, she is known for her rapid-fire banter during fights. Interestingly, only Boiled’s raised voice has the power to unsettle her, and their unique relationship has resulted in remarkable (and deadly) accomplishments within the agency.
Fans who’ve followed Bliss in WWE understand that she excels at roles like this one. Throughout her career, she has embodied the qualities needed for such a part. From being the Divine One to the mysterious ally of Bray Wyatt, or more recently, the eerily amusing supernatural figure, she demonstrates versatility in portraying various characters.
joy also features an impressive ensemble, made up of Matthew Mercer as Taro Sakamoto, Dallas Liu as Shin Asakura, Xolo Mariduena as Heisuke Mashimo, Rosalie Chiang as Lu Shaotang, Rosie Okumura as Aoi Sakamoto, Aleks Le as Nagumo, SungWon Cho as Boiled, Du-Shaunt Fik-Shun Stegall as Son Hee, and Toru Uchikado as Bacho.
This anime series is being led by Masaki Watanabe of TMS Entertainment (known for Kado – The Right Answer), with Taku Kishimoto (Blue Lock) handling the scriptwriting, and Yō Moriyama (Lupin the Third: Goemon’s Blood Spray) overseeing character designs. It is divided into two halves. The first part, consisting of 11 episodes, began streaming on January 11th, and more episodes will be released weekly. The second part’s release date has yet to be announced, but it is planned for July. Here’s the official summary: [insert description here]
