On last Friday’s SmackDown, there were hints about Jade Cargill again, as it was suggested that Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were in the parking lot when Cargill was attacked or found. This set up a match for tonight’s Monday Night Raw between Bianca Belair and Naomi, who are current champions, and Morgan and Rodriguez. However, the title change wasn’t due to the usual reasons; allow us to clarify.
Over the last few weeks, Belair and Naomi have clashed with Morgan and Rodriguez, and this conflict deepened when they were presented with evidence suggesting that Morgan and Rodriguez had assaulted Cargill. This incident culminated in a Title match during the main event of Raw, and as anticipated, Morgan and Rodriguez received crucial assistance.
As a cinephile, I must confess that it wasn’t Jade who made her reappearance during the episode or segment. Instead, the spotlight shifted to Dominik Mysterio, who valiantly stepped in to save the game for Judgement Day, not just once but twice! However, Naomi eventually managed to put a stop to him. Despite the continuous underhanded tactics from Rodriguez and Morgan, the Champions miraculously kept the match alive.
After Rodriguez had flung Belair onto the commentary desk, things took an unexpected turn. He managed to rise again and lend a hand to Morgan once more. Despite Naomi’s tenacity in the previous pin attempt, she couldn’t withstand the next one, resulting in Morgan securing the victory and causing quite the upset.
In a state of shock, Belair lay on the floor while Morgan and Rodriguez rejoiced over their significant victory, earning them the title of Women’s Tag Team Champions. Interestingly enough, Cargill’s involvement and backstory seemed unrelated to the match’s outcome, but it may become relevant in the developing storyline. Despite employing underhanded tactics on multiple occasions, their actions were typical of villainous strategies, nothing too out of the ordinary.
Regarding Cargill, the focus shifts to when and how she reappears, given that the Titles have been claimed. The outcome may vary depending on the direction WWE takes with the narrative. If they portray Morgan and Rodriguez as the attackers, Jade might seek revenge. However, if resentment brews among fans due to Naomi taking her place in the Tag Team Champs while she was absent, it could lead to a more complicated scenario for Cargill upon her return.
Another significant shift might occur if Jade’s attacker is either Bianca Belair or Naomi. In such a scenario, their rivalry could unfold swiftly, culminating in a likely confrontation leading up to WrestleMania. If that’s the case, it’s possible we’ll witness someone being firmly established as a villain (heel) in the coming storylines, but only time will tell.
