The Devil’s Playground match delivered on every front – from smashed tables to slams onto nuts and bolts, it was pure adrenaline pumping action.
At Halloween Havoc, WWE NXT Champion Trick Williams aimed to prolong his Title rule, but it wasn’t going to be a walk in the park as he was up against Ethan Page in a Devil’s Playground match. These two weren’t exactly buddies beforehand, and their friendship will likely turn sour after the intense battle that transpired tonight, featuring shattered tables, brutal slams onto metal objects, and numerous falls onto stairs – all of which looked incredibly grueling. In the end, Williams came out on top, but right after the fight, Ridge Holland and Page began attacking him. Just when things were looking grim for Williams, Bubba Ray Dudley intervened, scattering both superstars and securing the ring for Williams. You can catch the action here.
A Battle of Chairs and Pumpkins
At the buzzer, Page charged at Williams, shoving him into the corner of the ring. In response, Page snatched a chair, only for Williams to retaliate with another chair. Later, Page got hold of a pumpkin, but Williams managed to seize it after knocking Page down. Williams hurled the pumpkin and subsequently hurled Page headfirst into a ladder, causing the fight to spread beyond the ring’s boundary and over the barricade, engulfing the crowd.
In the ring once more, Page displayed his dominance, preventing the Champion from building any momentum. He focused particularly on attacking Williams’ back and arm. However, Williams retaliated with powerful punches followed by consecutive kicks that momentarily disoriented Page. Williams attempted a knee strike but missed, while Page aimed for Ego’s Edge, but Williams responded with the Trick Shot and went for the pin, though it was unsuccessful due to the lack of rope breaks in the match and a brief confusion on the referee’s part.
Steel Step Brutality
Later, Page struck Williams with a bag that turned out to be packed with nuts and bolts, causing injury. This became clear once Page disclosed the contents. Williams subsequently pinned Page onto the debris, but this was just a prelude to what followed later. It was then that Page rammed Williams into the steel steps, which was agonizing in itself, but Williams’ face collided with the steps, and blood flowed from his mouth due to the impact.

In that instant, Page seized the opportunity, leaping from the stairs to execute an Ego’s Edge onto the announce table, sending Williams crashing through it and leaving it in pieces. Medical personnel rushed out to check on his well-being, but Williams shooed them away and returned to the ring. However, he was promptly slammed hard into the steel steps directly on his ribs. Page positioned Williams on a set of steel steps with an intention to crush him, but Williams managed to move just in time.
Afterwards, Williams shoved Page onto the metal stairs and reached for another set, yet Page delivered a sneaky kick that sent Williams tumbling down. Seizing the stairs once more, Page aimed to strike him back, but Williams retaliated with another underhand blow. Williams executed the Trick Shot, which was sufficient to secure the pin and victory, allowing him to keep hold of his NXT Championship.
In this instance, Ridge Holland leapt into the arena and began assaulting Williams. For a short while, Page confronted him, but eventually joined in the attack on Williams, urging him to do it correctly. Then, Bubba Ray Dudley entered, delivering powerful blows that sent both Page and Holland out of the ring, allowing Williams to regain his footing. This was the climactic encounter between Bubba Ray and Holland, who had clashed earlier in the evening as well.
