As a seasoned gamer who’s been following WWE for what feels like an eternity, I can confidently say that Bash in Berlin was a night to remember! The Undisputed Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens was nothing short of spectacular – a testament to their camaraderie and sheer skill.
The opening match at WWE’s Bash in Berlin featured a highly anticipated bout for the Undisputed WWE Championship between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. On SmackDown, Owens had highlighted Rhodes’ less-than-perfect knee, which proved to be significant during their closely contested match. At one instance, Rhodes’ knee gave out, but Owens chose not to exploit the situation, opting against inflicting injury on his friend for the sake of victory. Despite the pain, Rhodes persevered and ultimately secured the win, successfully defending his Undisputed Title.
Know All Your Moves
Initially, Rhodes and Owens were swiftly confined, leaving the spectators divided between the two renowned wrestlers. Owens initiated the first tackle, sending Rhodes crashing to the ground, followed by a series of interchanging grips where Owens again tripped Rhodes. Attempting the Cody Cutter, Rhodes was anticipatingly thwarted by Owens who deflected him, waggling his finger at the Champion. In an attempt to execute a powerful kick, Rhodes’ move was once more read by Owens, who evaded it, causing Rhodes to land on the mat.
In a heated moment, Owens and Rhodes had some tense interactions followed by a confrontation where Rhodes shoved Owens out of the ring. Rhodes attempted a risky move called a suicide dive, but Owens managed to grab him and toss him onto the ring apron instead. After that, Owens executed a cannonball off the apron. Rhodes retaliated with a kick and then tried another dive, successfully connecting this time and slamming Owens into the barricade, exciting the crowd in the process.
Previously, Rhodes managed to apply a submission hold on Owens, yet Owens escaped by rolling to the ropes. However, Rhodes didn’t allow much respite, following up with blows and a knee to the abdomen before attempting a pin. Despite this, Owens managed to kick out. Afterward, Rhodes targeted Owens’ leg, but Owens quickly recovered and retaliated with chest chops. Eventually, Rhodes secured the Figure-Four hold right in the middle of the ring.
Owens made it out of the move but was clearly hobbled, though that didn’t stop him from sending Rhodes to the floor and then hitting a frog splash. Owens got Rhodes back in the ring for a cover, but Rhodes kicked out. Rhodes built some momentum but Owens never let him get too far ahead, slamming him down. Rhodes then got the Cody Cutter to land and went for the pin, but Owens kicked out at just over 2.
In this wrestling match, Owens pinned Rhodes to the ground and attempted a pin, but Rhodes managed to kick out. Later, Owens attacked the Champion and climbed to the top rope, only for Rhodes to counter with some punches and chops. Despite this, Owens delivered a massive slam on Rhodes, followed by another attempt at a pin, yet again, Rhodes miraculously kicked out.
The Knee Factors In
In a quick succession, Rhodes transformed a Stunner into Cross Rhodes, but Owens managed to flip it into a powerful slam instead. Crawling towards Rhodes, Owens attempted a cover, but Rhodes miraculously kicked out at 2. They exchanged blows, and when Rhodes went for an aerial move, his knee gave way under the weight. Seeing this opportunity, Owens lunged to strike at Rhodes’ knee, but he paused, recalling his words on SmackDown. Concerned, Owens requested the referee check on Rhodes. Despite appearing injured, Rhodes declared himself fit and retaliated against Owens. Overpowered, Owens brought down the Champ, then hesitated before executing the ring apron slam, reminding everyone of his recent promise on SmackDown.
Following the introduction of Rhodes into the wrestling arena, he attempted a roll-up maneuver on Owens, but Owens managed to avoid defeat by kicking out. Subsequently, Owens executed a Stunner on Rhodes, yet Rhodes responded with two consecutive Cross Rhodes. In an attempt to regain control, Owens performed another Stunner and knocked down the champion, but again, Rhodes refused to stay down as he kicked out of the cover. Owens then attempted the Swanton Bomb from the top rope, but Rhodes shielded himself by raising his knees, effectively halting the move in its tracks. Rhodes capitalized on this opportunity with another Cross Rhodes, sealing the win and retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship. In a surprising turn of events, despite initial hesitation, Owens embraced Rhodes, confirming their enduring friendship, and assuring fans that he will not betray his ally.
