WWE's Drew McIntyre Discusses Posting Photo With AEW's Jack Perry: "People Reacted Crazy"

As a seasoned gamer of wrestling lore, I can’t help but be enthralled by the ongoing saga between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk. The tension between these two titans has kept me on the edge of my seat for months now, and their recent clash at the Bash in Berlin was nothing short of electrifying.

Over the past couple of months, Drew McIntyre of WWE has been relentlessly harassing CM Punk, catching him off guard whenever possible. Today at the Bash in Berlin Premium Live Event, their long-standing conflict (at least for now) came to an end as Punk managed to exact his revenge on “The Scottish Warrior” during a Strap match. Earlier, if McIntyre wasn’t ambushing him backstage or surprising him on TV, he was swiping Punk’s sentimental bracelet and taking photos with people from his past that might have painful memories for Punk. This dramatic moment sparked a lot of conversation online, even earning a mention during WWE Raw a few weeks ago.

At a press event following Bash in Berlin, McIntyre was questioned about photographs he had posted online that were swiftly removed after fans identified them and shared them widely. Fans were curious about the situation since Jack Perry continues to be associated with AEW. In response to Gorilla Position, McIntyre said, “We were on the same flight. He was seated right in front of me. We had a conversation. He’s a great guy.” He added, “His girlfriend is really nice and was heading to L.A. She suggested we take a picture together because we are both wrestlers. I thought it would be cool to share on the internet for some exposure. People seemed to overreact when they saw it.” (Credit: POST Wrestling)

The long-standing relationship between Punk and Perry dates back to last year, during a time when Punk was still part of the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) roster. In fact, upon the inception of the AEW Collision brand, Punk held a significant role. A clash occurred when Punk was scheduled for a match with Hook at AEW All In. As Punk recounts, things seemed amicable until Perry brought up the topic of the glass spot that Punk had advised him against doing. This remark sparked Punk’s anger and led to a heated backstage altercation, an incident that many within AEW believed could have potentially disrupted the entire show.

Eventually, Punk was permanently released from the company, spending the following months in anticipation of his possible return to WWE. After their time apart, Punk has generally chosen to maintain a positive outlook regarding his AEW experience. On the other hand, Perry has been aligned with The Elite and has occasionally made jabs over the past year at the native of Chicago. At next week’s All Out pay-per-view, which has taken place in Chicago since its establishment six years ago by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks, Perry will square off against Bryan Danielson.
