WWE's Drew McIntyre Eager to Get Cast in Highlander Reboot

As a gamer with a deep-rooted love for wrestling and action movies, I can hardly contain my excitement about Drew McIntyre’s big screen debut in “The Killer’s Game.” Being a fan of both WWE and his charismatic performance, I have high expectations for this action comedy. The fact that he shares the screen with none other than Dave Bautista makes it even more enticing.

Drew McIntyre is set to make his first appearance on the big screen, starring alongside Dave Bautista in “The Killer’s Game,” an upcoming action comedy. The story centers around Bautista’s character, Joe Flood, a seasoned assassin who finds himself targeted after receiving a mistaken terminal diagnosis. McIntyre is following in the footsteps of fellow WWE superstars Seth Rollins and Liv Morgan, who have both landed roles in “Captain America: Brave New World” and “The Kill Room.” McIntyre intends to continue acting while maintaining his full-time position within the WWE after “The Killer’s Game,” indicating he has no plans to abandon this new craft.

The Scottish Warrior wants to venture to the 16th century Scottish Highlands.

During an interview with ComicBook at the “The Killer’s Game” press event, Drew McIntyre expressed interest in potentially playing a role in the forthcoming “Highlander” remake.

McIntyre remarked, using a basketball analogy, “It’s not entirely guaranteed, but it’s close. So we’ll watch and see. It’s as if someone passed you the ball under the basket with no defenders around – will you score or not?”

The Highlander recounts the tale of Connor MacLeod, a 16th-century Scottish man who learns he’s immortal following an injury that was believed to be fatal at the hands of Kurgan. Over the ensuing centuries, MacLeod prepares for a rematch with Kurgan, with a legendary prize at stake this time around.

Initially met with mixed responses from critics and modest ticket sales when it debuted in 1986, the original “Highlander” eventually developed a following as a cult classic. Over time, this movie’s popularity led to both a live-action television adaptation and an animated spinoff.

15 years into its development, Lionsgate finally commenced work on a fresh take of “Highlander” in October 2023. Henry Cavill landed the role of MacLeod, and rumors swirl that Michael Fassbender might play the villain. The remake is projected to start shooting in early 2025.

At the moment, McIntyre is deeply engrossed in a long-standing rivalry with CM Punk within the WWE. They’ve shared victories so far, with McIntyre securing the win during WWE SummerSlam while Punk claimed his victory at WWE Bash in Berlin. It’s anticipated that McIntyre and Punk will conclude their series of matches next month at WWE Bad Blood.

The Killer’s Game hits theaters on Friday, September 13th.
