WWE’s Ethan Page Retains NXT Title, Pinned by Future Challenger

WWE's Ethan Page Retains NXT Title, Pinned by Future Challenger

As a die-hard wrestling fan and follower of NXT, I was absolutely thrilled to see Ethan Page shock the world by defeating Je’Von Evans for the NXT Championship at Heartwave’s Fatal 4-Way. However, I was also worried for Page as Oro Mensah continued his relentless attacks on the newly crowned Champion.

In an unexpected turn of events at NXT Heartwave’s Fatal 4-Way, Ethan Page stunned the wrestling world by defeating Je’Von Evans to claim the NXT Championship, prematurely ending Trick Williams’ reign. However, Page’s victory was short-lived as Oro Mensah continued to pose a constant threat, relentlessly attacking him at every opportunity. In an attempt to avoid giving Mensah a title shot, Page granted one to the first person who came to mind – Dante Chen. Chen proved to be a formidable opponent, pushing Page to his limits throughout the match. Despite managing to secure a victory, Page’s celebration was disrupted as Mensah resurfaced, crashing the party and pinning the Champ for a surprising three count after the bell had rung.

Page’s Unexpected Challenger

I was thrilled as I watched Page take the lead with a powerful punch that sent Chen crashing to the mat. With a smirk, I taunted Chen by patting his head, but this only fueled his anger. He retaliated with a fierce back elbow and a superkick straight to my jaw. I managed to kick out before he could secure the victory. The momentum shifted again as I flipped Chen to the floor and then knocked him back down. With determination, I pinned him to the mat and rained down blows on his head before rolling him back into the ring for more.

Chen managed to break free from a near-pin situation and retaliated with powerful attacks, including a heavy kick to the Champ’s head. After gaining some ground, Chen unleashed several strikes and clotheslines. However, a missed kick gave Page an opportunity to recover. Chen came close to pinning Page again, but he managed to kick out. In response, Page delivered a devastating boot to Chen’s head, followed by the Ego’s Edge, securing his victory.

Crashing the Party

Although Page kept his Title, he failed to rejoice. Oro Mensah invaded the scene and assaulted Page in the ring. Surprisingly, Page managed to fend off Mensah with a powerful slam, leaving him momentarily defeated. Regrettably for Page, this was only the beginning of Mensah’s onslaught. He continued his assault outside the ring and dragged Page back in, delivering a devastating kick to his head. To add salt to the injury, Mensah pinned Page down for a count of three, demonstrating his ability to pin the Champion if they ever faced off in a match.

Previously, Mensah had unsuccessfully challenged Page for the NXT Championship title. However, since Mensah managed to pin down the current champ this time, it might be harder for Page to ignore the situation. When questioned about it backstage, Page appeared displeased with the inquiry. “Hold on. He didn’t truly defeat me. That wasn’t a valid victory. I remain the NXT Champion, and just so we’re clear, none of this disturbs me,” Page replied before leaving. Yet, before fully departing, he added, “And he didn’t pin me.”

It seems clear that Page is bothered by something, and we can expect him to react next week. However, Mensah will be preoccupied with dealing with Ashante Thee Adonis after interrupting his advances towards Jakara Jackson. This situation might provide an opportunity for Page to make a bold move. All we can do now is wait and find out what unfolds next week.
