The primary event on WWE SmackDown was set for John Cena defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against Ron Killings, but due to Cena’s cunning tactics, it didn’t last long as planned. The show didn’t end there though; after bumping into CM Punk, Cena retaliated by unleashing a harsh verbal attack on Punk, reminiscent of a pipe bomb. This left the audience with a lot to think about. Not only did Cena challenge stars from other wrestling companies who had previously worked for WWE, but he also broke the fourth wall, used profanity several times, and delivered an ending statement that USA Network ended up censoring. You can watch the entire promo below.
A Very Different Rematch
At the outset of the bout, Cena appeared rather self-satisfied, while Killings seemed focused and determined. This prompted Killings to rush directly towards Cena, knocking him down and delivering several more blows. Throughout the encounter, Killings continued his aggressive approach by slamming Cena onto the commentary table, causing potential injury to his hand after a punch, and later hurling Cena forcefully into the corner so hard that he tumbled to the mat. This intense display of power suggested that this wasn’t the same Ron Killings we had witnessed at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Initially, Cena was off-balance and hadn’t launched any attacks yet. He eventually retaliated with some punches but found himself countered after Killings administered some shoulder thrusts and a powerful slam. Following this, Killings executed the Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Cena evaded it. Later, Cena started to gain momentum with strategic blows that slowed down Killings’ advance, then aggressively pursued him inside the ring, stomping on his opponent before landing a brutal kick on Killings’ back. He attempted the Five Knuckle Shuffle again and landed it successfully, but failed to execute the Attitude Adjustment.
In this scenario, Killings suddenly attacked Cena, knocking him down from the ring and forcing him to exit. However, as Cena was walking away with his Championship, Killings pursued and landed a few blows before Cena retaliated using the Title. Just then, CM Punk’s theme song played, and Punk sprinted out to assault Cena.

The Cena Pipe Bomb
Regrettably, Cena stopped Punk from advancing and gave him some hard stomps, but Punk soon stood back up and proudly held the title aloft. However, Cena spoiled that moment by landing a low blow on Punk, which led to him slamming the title onto Punk’s head, an action he’s performed numerous times before. In turn, Cena retrieved a table and placed it in the ring. While Punk managed to rise again, Cena struck him with the title once more, following up with a brutal Attitude Adjustment that sent Punk crashing through the table.
At the microphone, Cena chuckled and remarked, “Punk, while you’re squirming there in your most awkward position,” but then he began to tap the microphone, appearing as though it was growing quieter. Cena continued, “It seems someone is fearful of what I’m about to say. As you lie there, squirming uncomfortably, I hope you can listen carefully. I hope you can understand, because before I relinquish this Championship in six months, I have a great deal to express.
Initially, let’s make something clear: I don’t have feelings of disdain or animosity towards you. In fact, I appreciate you. You stand out among those you’ve shared a locker room with, there’s no doubt about that. However, the notion of you being the best in the world is not something I agree with. I am the greatest of all time, but when it comes to one specific skill, you outshine me – you are an exceptional liar or storyteller, if you will. And just for fun, some might say that I’ve used a swear word, which means our usual script has taken an unexpected turn. By the way, I’m addressing you directly, isn’t that amusing?
In truth, Punk, I’m envious of you. Envious because you’ve managed to trick these people into thinking you’re the greatest in the world. They cheer for you, they even sing songs when you enter the stage. But here’s the catch, they don’t take a single word you say seriously, since your principles shift as frequently as I change my shirts. You’re merely a loud-mouthed opportunist who wouldn’t hesitate to trample on the hardworking people if it benefits you in any way,” Cena expressed.
– John Cena revived the PIPEBOMB incident.
– He talked about Claudio Castagnoli (Antonio Cesaro), Nic Nemeth (Heidenreich), and Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder).
– He brought up some of Punk’s old tweets.
– He referred to the TKO drama.
Wow… just wow.
John Cena delivered one of the most AMAZING promos ever on #SmackDown!

At that moment, Cena addressed the camera directly and began waving, exclaiming, “Hey Claudio Castagnoli, hey Nic Nemeth, hey Matt Cardona, what’s up? We’re still at it. You’re getting hotter by the minute, burning with passion. But there’s no one there to cut off my mic to save your skin, because I’m your only ally. Remember who provided you with the platform for your pipe bomb, and what have you done with it since? All you’ve managed is to repeat the same five microphones of despair. You’re a mic-related salad, my friend. You’re no longer the voice of the voiceless; you’re a millionaire, even against your will. You’re a capitalist. You’re not opposed to TKO, you are Mr. TKO, because they took your fighting spirit away from your body. Your tweets are bold, but your actions are weak. In Saudi Arabia, you’ll face some harsh music when I ultimately demonstrate to the world that for 25 years, day in and day out, without a single break, I have been the greatest of all time.
At this moment, it appeared that the crowd was strongly supporting Cena, and he acknowledged it. “Ah, they recognize it,” Cena stated. “And they realize that for seven minutes, fourteen years ago, you were the greatest in the world. If after Night of Champions you’re still holding on to that belief, then indeed, it’s a small world. You’re welcome, Grand Rapids.
Initially, Cena decided to seize the moment, asserting he didn’t require a pipe bomb, but his subsequent remarks were entirely muted. After that, he discarded the microphone angrily. Later on, Cena returned and declared, “I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to hijack your own promo and make you appear even more ridiculous.
