WWE’s New Day Hits The Ring With Dragon Ball Super Tribute

As a longtime fan and connoisseur of both WWE and anime, I must say I am utterly thrilled by The New Day’s ongoing tribute to these two worlds I hold dear. From their iconic Dragon Ball Z entrance to their recent Dragon Ball Super transformation, they continue to blend the best of both universes in a way that only they can.

Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E have consistently shown their passion for anime through their attire. One iconic entrance in World Wrestling Entertainment saw The New Day donning Saiyan armor from Dragon Ball Z. Although Big E is currently out due to a unfortunate ring accident, Kofi and Xavier continue to pay tribute to their friend by incorporating anime elements into their appearances. Instead of revisiting Dragon Ball Z, the remaining members of The New Day are diving into Dragon Ball Super, featuring its most prominent characters and antagonists.

In a recent episode of WWE Raw, characters representing Son Goku and Goku Black from the anime Dragon Ball Super clashed. While many are familiar with Goku’s history, some may be less acquainted with Goku Black. This enigmatic character originates from Future Trunks’ timeline as a sinister version of Goku. However, he is not just any Goku; he is actually a renegade Kaioshin. The villainous Zamasu seizes control over an alternate reality Goku’s body, causing chaos on Earth with the intent to eradicate all mortals across all universes. Fortunately, the Z-Fighters eventually vanquish him, leaving Goku Black as one of the most memorable villains in the sequel series.

Dragon Ball’s New Day

As a die-hard WWE fan, I’ve often pondered what it would be like if my favorite team, The New Day, had their very own anime series. Though an official adaptation hasn’t happened yet, the question of “what if?” is something Kofi and Xavier have also considered. This year at Netflix’s Geeked Week, we inquired about their dreams for an anime series, and to my delight, they expressed a strong interest! If given the choice, they’d love Studio The Boondocks to be the team behind this potential project. To see them in their anime gear, simply click here to view the new images!

A Dragon Ball Day

Xavier, Big E, and Kofi are thrilled to honor the Z-Fighters, but they’ve also expressed a wish to enter the ring dressed in attire from other anime series. In a recent chat, Xavier shared their preferred franchises for a potential crossover, stating, “In the realm of anime, there are two we’re keen on exploring. The first is Yu Yu Hakusho and the second is Attack on Titan. For Attack on Titan, we believe we could emulate ‘Giant Gonzalez’ by wearing skin suits like he did, but with a Titan-centric twist. If we tackled Yu Yu Hakusho, I think we might attempt the Toguro Brothers, although I’d personally prefer to be Yusuke Urameshi.

As a fellow enthusiast, I completely resonate with Xavier’s sentiments. I find myself hopping on board the “My Hero Academia” bandwagon, drawn by the prospect of its rich cast, particularly Deku and Bakugo. Frankly, revisiting Dragon Ball is also appealing to us, as we merely dipped our toes in with such a vast array of characters waiting to be explored more thoroughly.
